I had a set of earbuds on my desk at work. They were the apple buds that came with my wife’s iPhone 5 back in 2012. I say HAD and WERE, because someone took them, and left me instead with a set of yellowed white Samsung buds.
There has been nobody in my cube. There has been nobody with earbuds in my cube. There is no explanation other than someone intentionally swapping their dirty used buds for my dirty used buds.
What the fuck is wrong with people.

I have really nice over ear headphones that are on my desk at work. I’ll murder people if someone takes them.
The only good news is they’re Klipsch Mode M40 bronze head phones. It would stick out like a sore thumb if someone tried to use them at work.

At least they’re leaving something behind. I’ve had multiple sets of buds outright stolen. One time, when I complained (loudly) about it, a set of used and yellowed buds was waiting for me the next day.
I suspect it’s the cleaning people. We already fired one cleaning crew for “cleaning” out our refrigerator every night. One of my coworkers came in late and found all of our food spread out in the kitchen, buffet style. The cleaning crew was busy helping themselves.

It’s astonishing what people will do when they think they can get away with it. I lost my Star Trek communicator in the airport recently. The fact that it never made it to lost and found means somebody just kept it. Same thing with an iPod I lost once. If I found something like that, I would never even think of keeping it. It’d be like the tell tale heart poking at my conscience for ever after.
