Kinja'd!!!

I first drove the cleanest ‘02 this morning, the same one I posted about earlier and after crawling up underneath it and all around, that sucker was, I mean this, incredibly clean. Red factory overspray still visible where it should have worn off long ago. The floor pans were metal colored and virgin new. Frame spotless. Even by the cat area, it was still that nice graphite black frames should be. All original paint. But in the end, concerns for my ability to get to work without a single issue arose as well as the wife’s desire for something not waiting for a random accessory to fail.So enter the 2011 white taco.

clean interior for 124k miles is an understatement. Surprisingly came with full-service history, as it’s previous life was an engineering firm’s fleet vehicle. It’s good to go, despite its white/gray combo, at least it’s not gray/gray. A few nerf bars to help the kids and wife get in, perhaps a TRD cai , and that’s really all I need

a set of snows for next winter. For now, I need to calibrate my senses for a car payment once again.

My work’s 300k mile Tacoma’s interior has held up incredibly well, other than the carpet. Barely a wear mark on the driver’s seat.

The more I drive my Taco, I just like it more and more. I purposely bought a ‘15, as I wanted th last of that gen truck. I had hoped to keep the truck for quite a while when I purchased it, but I usually swap out every 18 months or so. I think I finally found the vehicle that will be the keeper. It’ll be my son’s to drive (not keep) once he turns 16 in 9 years.

All I’ve done to it is some Weathertechs, OEM sidesteps so my little guy can get up in the truck, and a bed mat. Eventually, it’ll get a tonneau, topper, or softopper. And that’s it. It’s quite a nice truck the way it is, and it couldn’t be happier with it.

Good luck with the white one, I hope it works out for you! You bought it, right?

What club were you in before the 20 mpg club?

This with a long bed, 4.0, and 4x4 could be a forever truck for me. Nice choice!

I purchased a Rugged Cover vinyl folding cover 4-1/2 years ago for $400. I’ve been VERY happy with it.

Bought an 06 with a new frame and 82k miles and i have never been happier to get relatively bad mileage. Already put new head unit in for modern conveniences. Its a trd sport 4.0 and im thinking about trd baja wheels and luggage rack on the roof with a rear facing light bar (not for driving obviously). Mines white on grey as well. I plan on blacking out the badges and whiting out the grill to give it a little less of the fleet truck look though the scoop and bigger wheels already help a bit with that.

Nice choice, looks like a clean little sr5 you found there.

Skip the nerf bars and go with either the Oem running boards or get some sliders.. look into a leveling kit and some better tires before you worry too much about the cai.

Do you have the temp/compass in the roof? They are notorious for burning out.. $200 at dealership or $3 and a soldering iron. Also look at the ImMrYo bracket for you rear view mirror.. best $25 mod ever spent..

You’ve registered on tacomaworld already right?

Looking at some step sliders, or ones with a platform welded to them, but they need to be at a right angle/height for them to benefit wife/kids ease. The tires have lots of tread left and will be fine through the summer into fall. I’m a big believer in snows and will grab some for next winter. I’m not off-roading crazy and if anything, nice camping trips and down a few logging roads, etc. in the mountains for the family would be nice, nothing where I’d get high centered tho. So ‘better tires’ is subjective to what I’ll be doing with it. No temp compass but I’ve got the backup camera in the mirror. Tell me what the leveling kit will do for me. Right now it’s the steps and the 120k maintenance that seems to have been skipped to do. Other stuff later on.

steps are alright, Nfab has decent ones, allpro as well. They might call them sliders but if they aren’t bolted/welded to the frame and made strong enough to support/protect your truck they aren’t sliders.

The OEM boards (black ones) are really great for kids/wife.. if you keep an eye on craigslist you can pick up a set for a good price.

Our truck came with brand new Bridgestone Revo2 A/T so I’ve been waiting for them to wear out.. This spring they are getting replaced with Ko2. A bit more chewy but still an all terrain. I run Blizzaks on FJ wheels during the winter.

Leveling kits will bring the front end up to match your fender gaps, they are usually a spring cap spacer type lift. As they sit stock you can see it looks like the front end is low. Another thing to do is swap your front shocks out for some Bilstein 5100, they are cheap and will give you a few inches of lift and better ride than OEM. Add a leaf on the back will give you a nice 1-3 inch all around.

While you are at the dealership have them look up the TSBs, there is probably one for the airbag coil spring in the steering wheel, one for the rear leaf spring, and maybe even the frame inspection/treatment.

Im not so interested in lifting. I am interested in ride quality though. If lifting is the only way to get a better ride without killing mpg, ill look into it. Do i have to lift to use those billsteins? Ill look for the factory steps. The step sliders are 500+ and up, way more for goid flat angle and step plates on them., so ill do craigslist steps and bedliner spray them good.

Dress up ‘running board’ type bars are usually available for around $300..

You will need Double cab specific.

http://www.autotrucktoys.com/toyota-tacoma/Toyota-Tacoma-Running-Boards-CAT1675.aspx

Sliders start at $800 or so - they have a different purpose though.

The 5100 will give you around 1.5-2" lift, they are a popular starting point because you only need to buy the shocks. If you just want the nicer ride look for the TRD Sport suspenion Bilsteins. People usually swap them so keep an eye out for takeoffs. Also if you find someone selling the TRD seats they are a bit nicer.

Oh yes im all about the trd seats. The lumbar is vastly superior to anything  Toyota does for seats. Ill look for the shocks in a while. Cant spend crazy money right away. Thanks for the input. Right now ride quality and access for kids n short wife are priority over offroading
