Pneumonia is no joke. My grandmother got it *and* diverticulitis over Christmas and was still fighting it by her 90th about two weeks ago. Mostly recovered now - mostly.

He’s the only president I’ve met. I was striper fishing in Kennebunkport when I was a kid, and he just walked up with his security detail, said hi, and asked how the fishing was. We chatted for a few minutes, then he walked off. It was one of those moments that will stick with me. I hope he’s ok.

I don’t have to agree with all the politics to respect the hell out of the man, we don’t make them like that any more and he always seemed like an earnestly good person. Barbara too. Complications from Pneumonia are what took my strong 93 year old grandma out years ago, all the best to them both.

I didn’t much agree with his politics, but he is an honorable man and I have a great amount of respect for him. If he has pneumonia, this is probably the end of a life dedicated to serving his country. Godspeed, President Bush.

My mother, who is 76, often refers to pneumonia as “ the old man’s friend .” Once it takes hold in an older person, it is extremely difficult to beat, but it is not an unpleasant death. You simply fall asleep and stop breathing.

Same with my 93 year old Grandfather. He was one tough SOB too. He even recovered from a broken hip at 89.
