This will likely be the first car I sell that I’ll be truly sad about. I wonder if on a very hot day you can still smell my puke from eating too much homemade ice cream in 1998. Don’t judge.

I’m surprised the federal government hasn’t required a regular emissions inspection by states. Just that by itself would take way more polluting cars off the road than strict new car standards. In fact it seems pointless to even have standards. You can just rip off the emissions stuff after driving off the lot since its never inspected again lol!

Valve covers most likely, doubt it’s the Cam seal I replaced as I’d expect opti issues, but possible.

Gotcha. $3500 is actually what I have to play with (if I can convince my wife to actually let me spend it, which is no gimme).
I just realized since this is a ‘96, I’d have to get it through an emissions test. Do you have the stuff to put the air pump back on? If it was OBD1 it wouldn’t matter, but they test OBD2 vehicles in my area every two years.

The B-Body airpump actually was exempted since in the end it doesnt really do much, there’s info and stickers for it out there. on the other hand, the catalytic converters are long gone, which would be issue #1 i think.

Good to know. The cats are more important, but its easy to get a hold of a cheap aftermarket cat. I figured the air pump would be hard to source, but if I don’t need it then it’s no problem.
I’ll give this a good long think. It’s a real stretch for me, and one that if I’m honest with myself I probably shouldn’t make ... but it’s an Impala SS!
