Have any Oppos been? Particularly at COTA? My best friend’s 30th is Feb 1, and I was thinking about getting us tickets. We both went to F1 in 2013, he’s got family in Austin that we will likely be able to stay with. So I’ve got most of it figured out.

Kinja'd!!!

I have never been to a 2 wheeled event let alone a major one. What can I expect?

Also, what do you guys thing about this as a gift. Obviously I’m going to clear it with my wife. My buddy’s girlfriend has a child that lives with them and when my friend isn’t working he’s playing dad at least to some degree. I guess I should clear it with his lady too?

expect bikes.

no, seriously. endless. bikes. you can fit almost 6 bikes to a single parking spot. expect shit tones of them
expect super loud (MotoGP is louder then F1)
for the most part, you can just elave you gear hanging on the bike.

Have the grom. use as pit-bike/run around. saves wear and tear on your feet.

A company (maybe BMW...maybe honda. possibly suzuki and kawasaki) might bring a tent with some demo bikes. Have your gear and permit with you, you might just fancy a test ride.

bring extra $ for souvenirs.

Went to Laguna Seca a few years ago. If you have a bike and weren’t planning to ride there, bring your original key anyway. Yamaha had an owner’s only area with nice seating, water, snacks, swag, etc.

This should be obvious, but wear comfy shoes, check the weather, bring sunscreen/jackets/ponchos if needed.

When I was at F1 it was still the V8 era, it was so loud it shook my insdies. I took the first port-o-potty dump of my life! Moto GP still louder?

We’re flying to Austin, so the Grom is out, as is likely the riding gear:(

Didn’t think about the abundance of motorcycles!

I went to the first two years at Laguna, and while it was cool to see the GP bikes & riders (insane, actually, and when Hayden won the place exploded), it was an absolute zoo. I spend a lot of time there for car weekends, and I’d never seen crowding like the MotoGP events. I much preferred just going to the AMA weekend at other points in the year, it was more relaxed and the racing was just as good. Also, the riders and teams are more accessible outside of the FIA/FIM sphere. That said, COTA (which I’ve also been to for car stuff) is a much better facility than Laguna for events of that scale, so I’d imagine it’s a much improved experience there.
