Kinja'd!!!

The Lotus Europa . I don’t remember ever hearing about this. From what I read, it’s basically a GT version of the Elise/Exige. Huh, weird.

See, I knew about that. I actually found out about the Europa by Googling the Dodge EV not ten minutes ago.

not to judge you but how old are you, cause I remember these quite well when they came out. you just might of been too young at the time.

Currently 22. So I would have been 11 or 12 when it came out. Considering I was still pretty avidly into vehicles at the time, it definitely slipped through the cracks, but I’ve also been on Oppo since 2012 and never recall seeing it posted, either.

I remember when it was new, and it was criticised by pretty much everyone since it was odd to do a plush version of a car which focused on bare-bones thrills as much as the Elise/Exige. I love to simplify and add lightness as much as the next guy, but the Evora filled this gap much better.

I learned about this Europa from GT2. I call it The Ugly Lotus. I would still love to have one though.

And it wasn’t even their first Europa.

Then why didn’t you buy one as your highway cruiser?

I vaguely remember when they launched it but it was never really a big deal.

It’s probably mostly known for being on NFS Carbon (I think it was Carbon, anyway)

at 11 or 12 it’s normal for cars you see on the internet to slip through the cracks.

when i was that age, in the early 90s while my friends collected baseball cards and basketball cars, I had car cards. and magazines, information was way more scarce so I would re-read over and over what i had. not like now with all the info out there, now you take a little here and there.

Clarkson once reviewed one for Top Gear, but admitted in a later News segment that he decided to scrap the video because the car was so boring. I wonder if it still exists in cyberspace somewhere or if it was never edited in the first place.

I feel that Europa is more ugly than the original. But I might be biased having a 1970 Europa.
