I do. A lot of people get off on the right foot, do everything the right way, work hard, and reach a point in their lives where they can grow, get mortgages, drive something nice, live in a decent neighborhood, wife, kids, retirement, etc.,
But a lot of others? Fucked. You’re working multiple jobs and still can’t cover the bills. You are surrounded by opportunity you have no access to, because training and education take money you don’t have and aren’t going to get because you’re in debt. Your present is your future, so everything looks the same everyday and none of your choices will ever matter. You can’t afford to start a family, and potential mates are also working multiple jobs and don’t have time for that shit anyway. That book you wanted to write? That game you wanted to develop? That song you wanted to learn an instrument for? No time, no money, and week after week of necessary caffeine binges to keep you productive at your multiple jobs leaves you scatterbrained on the weekends, so good luck getting the focus together to even attempt those things, nevermind finishing them, forget about mastering them.
Your life of limited means and time is empty. What are you going to fill it with? What are you going to attach yourself to? Football is one outlet for someone in this situation, because if life has decided you’re going to be a loser and that’s all there is to it, at least supporting a team of champions who might beat everyone will let you for a moment find out what it feels like to win.
