Triumph TR7, Did they badge them with stickers? I walked around it and not one badge. If its still there next time I go to VA, I’ll be asking about it. Perfect chassis for what I want to do.

Yes nothing but sticker badges IIRC

Is it a fiberglass body? I’m looking for something very light.

Full Disclosure: Old British wedges are my guilty pleasure.

I’m constantly going back and forth between what I prefer out of the TR7 and the TVR 350i.

I love all wedge cars.

Google says they’re 2430lbs so not heavy exactly, just heavier than you’d expect.

The paint was so bad I couldn’t tell what it was made of. I didn’t want to start knocking on someones car. That’s not “too” heavy.

Hell yeah TR7s! Still want to make a widebodied V8 FHC myself...

What’s your plan?

Motorcycle engine! I’ve been looking at Saab Sonetts, But can’t find one close enough. This TR7 might be the answer to my problem

Great plan! My initial thought would be that a TR7 would be on the heavier side for a motorbike engine, but then I thought that MX-5s are suitable and they’re near as damn it the same weight. Plus, there’s a lot more to come out of the TR when the engine’s swapped.

Keep us updated!

I haven’t made a post about it yet. Mostly because I haven’t found the right chassis. Once that is bought, I’ll give updates often. & I feel like that TR7 could loose quite a bit of weight, pretty easily.

Very true :) they sit at 1062kg for a UK-spec drop-head.

If the bumpers are anything like the running boards on my X1/9 then that’s an easy 30kg saved. Lose another ~50kg from the engine swap. ~10kg for an FG bonnet and 5kg for an FG boot. Lightweight battery -15kg.

~950kg already :) not including a gearbox swap if you’re doing one (standard box is beefy so could be replaced for a lighter one if you’re going for a low-torque bike engine).

I wonder if a BMW E30 IRS is lighter than the live axle...
