Already found a few intesting cars out there.

I found one that looks damn near perfect.

I asked the dealership to send photos or video of the undercarriage to see if there is any rust (which there isn’t).

But then I noticed the headers on the car. Fabspeed headers. Fabspeed Race headers.

No way in hell that car passes CA emissions with those things.

As an aside, It passed emissions in its home state too, which means that it also has a tune on it, because removing the cats will always trigger a check engine light.

May still make an offer, but that will factor in as a deduction from the offer....Porsche headers not be cheap.

Since you can’t buy cuz emissions testing, please provide link to this Okie.

Good luck on your hunt!

What state doesn’t look for the cats during an emissions check? Mine does and it’s Georgia they just plug in and do a visual check.

Whoooo, so pumped to follow your search.

Know anything about a 911 coming without a CoA?

I looked at a 997.1 turbo a few weeks ago that was priced to sell. Not “salvage title” low, but 10k cheaper than any others I have seen. The dealer (not a Porsche dealer) told me that the car was perfect, but would not come with a CoA from Porsche because of a Remus exhaust... The whole thing seemed super shady, but the car was that flat grey color and I just wanted it so bad. The dealer stopped being responsive, so I let it fizzle figuring it was too good to be true. Anyway have you heard of anything like that? Guessing you’ve done a little 911 research at this point.

Yeah, I had to get factory exhaust for my GTO. Found a good used set on a forum to replace the long tubes. Then I had it tunes on a chassis dyno to pass CA smog with the cam.

That’s funny, because that’s where this car is located. And they said it just passed emissions.

Clearly it was a BS visual check. As for plugging it in, I bet it was tuned, thus eliminating the CEL.

The CoA seems like BS to me. It just seems like another way to make a bit more money. $100 for a piece of paper?

now I’m curious about this 997T.

Yea I agree about the CoA being BS. However the whole situation was weird, couldn’t get a straight answer from anyone about the CoA or history of the car. If I remember correctly it was an 08 with 30-40k on the clock for $66k.

I will see if I can dig up the listing.

That does seem real shady, that’s a lot of money to put at risk!

That’s what I’m sayin’. 40k Porsche w no CoA and an exhaust...ok. Nearly 70k would easily be the most expensive car I have ever purchased. No way I could pull the trigger without the vehicles history at the very least.

The car must have sold, there are only two 911's on their site now, both ragtops.

Must have taken it to a shady place in. I get mine done at mechanics who actually follow the rules.

Screaming deal if it isn’t necessary to spend $3000 on headers, after spending $1500 or so to ship it to the west coast!

Sigh.

Ugh. No 911 Cabs for me.

The used 997 headers I’ve found don’t look good at all. I wouldn’t trust em. And a new set is $3000.

I think it’s better to just look for another car I wouldn’t have to ship across the country anyway.

BMW of Roswell? That’s about 10 mins from my house.

A friend of mine moved to Atlanta recently and was going to go look at it for me, but it was closed on sunday. I’ve cooled off on this car, though. Especially since they said it passed emissions without cats on it.

It’s possible that the car wasn’t registered in a county that requires emission testing, or that they’ve still got the cats on. Unless you’re completely sure that it didn’t have cats, possible why it’s so cheap.

It doesn’t have cats. They just recorded and sent me the video.

Yeah that sounds like a better plan. I only had to ship my exhaust across the country. And $175 vs $4000 and they were basically new with O2 sensors. It was a steal.

It’s pretty ridiculous, the luxury car tax on these kinds of cars.

I could get a quality 4" or 5" turboback for my massive truck for $300. that’s a small fraction of the cost. And there’s WAY more materials used in the construction!

Yeah... in my case parts are expensive from having to ship them from Australia cause Holden.
