Sent out a $17,000 order on a COD basis, weather* held up the person who was supposed to be there with a cheque, and proclaimed himself to be insulted that the driver hadn’t started unloading without the cheque.
Buddy, #1 you were going to be late as it was. We had an agreed time. You knew the weather was going to be bad. Get your ass out earlier. #2 the driver was quite right not to unload $17k worth of shit before you got there with payment, no matter if you pay well or not. It’s called COD for a reason. Get over it. #3, you did have credit from us at one time. You took months to pay. I don’t care how good your behaviour has been after that, you’re COD again and staying that way.
And thanks to this dude dragging his ass, the driver is now right in the crosshairs of the freezing rain... and he’s heading north.
*More than weather. When you’re “15 minutes away” in an area with lots of alternate routes, you don’t get stuck behind an accident and be “10 minutes away” an hour later. You just don’t. Besides any half-decent person would have let you know. Somebody was deliberately being a douche and was pissed it didn’t work.

I’m avoiding the process of combining a new customer drawing with my old drawing, as revised by me according to somebody else’s drawings, which were based the customer old drawings, except that the new customer drawings are really the old customer drawings again with a couple of things changed but missing the important things that I drew on *my* drawings.

Inherited a project that uses a line-item estimating contract, and my customer wants to know why a price proposal was so much money, and I started to state the prices are high because the line item contract sets each price, and the line item contractor (also my customer) started mother-fucking me for blaming his price guide. $2,500 per linear foot of pipe is a shit ton, but that’s what our contract says we get paid.

I do “preliminary drawings” when I can, which are my private code for “are you sure this fucked up thing you requested is what you meant to request?” Of course, the project I’m tied up in right now is moving one of our previous projects into a space with a previous (completed) stage of an ongoing project and showing a new phase, all of which is altered by things not being built according to plan on-site (not our things). So, any “this is just a suggestion” safety valve option on the drawings in general has already been beaten, folded, spindled, mutilated, drowned, and set on fire. In a dumpster.

A state facility has existing galvanized domestic supply piping, and they are replacing the galvanized with copper to prevent buildup. Their existing pipes have up to 40% blockage right now. We’re installing a new booster pump station and they don’t want the old pipe to feed into the new pumps for our install.

Broke old crown. Dentist couldn’t just replace it. Off to oral surgeon to extract tooth and have titanium implant put in gum so that fake tooth can be attached 3 months from now. Not enough bone to hold implant, so surgeon put in some goop that will form fake bone during next 3-4 months and then sewed it up.. In 4 months, implant will go in. 3-4 months after that, fake tooth can be attached.
Moral of the story — don’t do stupid stuff when you are a kid that will cause you to have a root canal and crown before you’re out of HS.
