Computer: “CPU Fan: 0 RPM”

“That’s not good.”

Computer: “CPU Temperature: 89 degrees Celsius”

“That’s really not good.”

>Turn off computer, open it up to clean it out and make sure everything is plugged in

>Static electricity zaps the graphics card

“Oh, that’s a $400 mistake right there.”

Turned it back on, things seem fine at the moment, but gods damn do I hope that my PC isn’t about it die.

I always use those self contained liquid cooling systems now. Like the Corsair H100i, doesn’t require any maintanance, is quiet, and if a fan fails you just put another $2 case fan on the radiator. Have used the same thing for at least 5 years. IDK how old it is now.

A self-contained liquid cooling loop is guaranteed going into my next build.

...can I help with it? or at least watch? curious to see exactly what goes into that

You can buy them for $100 or cheaper. Mount the radiator on the top of the case, hook it up to the processor, boom.

My former roommate did all of his own piping for his system. It seems a lot less reliable than buying a premade kit.

Only GPU that broke on me was the one on my xbox.

You don’t have to get one that fits on top of your case. They make single fan sized radiators that bolt to where your rear case fan would go. Last I looked that would be the corsair H80i.

You can get different sizes.

I’m also thinking of going for a smaller build next time, so I’ve been looking around for smaller water cooling loops.

Kinja'd!!!

this is my case. I have no way of getting the plumbing though it

Yup, that would do it.

How noisy do you find them? I like my PCs as close to silent as I can get, and I understand the pump is always humming.

CPU fan isn’t that important, your processor should throttle down to keep from killing itself. 89 is obviously higher than you’d like, but chips will work at that temperature. And of course a very easy thing to fix.

Static to the graphics card is the scary the one. Sounds like you lucked out there.

Yeah, but for a while I was running super high temperatures (thanks, living in a house with no A/C), so I’m more concerned than most with that.

And yuuuup. That would have been really bad.

Halo 3 was a good game.

It’s my favourite Halo, personally. I never really played Halo 2 (I didn’t have an Xbox), and 3 was just so much fun.

Just case fan noise, no pump noise.

You can probably get it quieter with low db case fans on it.

lmao ya you are kind of screwed with that.

I was so happy when they released the Master Bug Chief collection, cause I loved playing all the classic halo games again. I was good at Halo 3 back in 2007 , but playing it again in 2015, wasn’t as good.

I played a few weeks ago with friends. Went 41 kills, 0 deaths.

I always wear a static strap when I start messing with my computer. Its not worth losing 4~$5,000 over not having a $5 piece of protection. Airflow can overcome everything though. Once I ran an i7 3770k overclocked without thermal paste for a year. It was perfectly happy because it had all the ventilation it could want. I would just take a glance at your fan profiles though maybe something can be adjusted there to help.
