An OC Transpo bus caught fire with people onboard . No one was injured, thankfully. I’m wondering what the cause was, though, and if it’s something to be worried about in the future.

Somewhere I have really old photos of a SEPTA bus catching fire outside of my college dorm. It started off with some smoke coming out of the engine which turned to flames. In true Philadelphia style, the fire department took ages to finally arrive.
I tried Googling to see if there was an old news story about it, but apparently SEPTA busses catch fire really often, so I gave up.

...the driver managed to get everyone off the bus safely after a tire overheated, blew and caught fire.
I wonder if it’s a frozen/cracked fuel line in proximity.

More likely the brakes caught fire than the tire overheated and blew up into a a firey inferno, no?

Buses quite often go on fire. It’s to do with having very high fuel pressure (modern engines) and an engine that’s usually tucked away at the back where it doesn’t get much in the way of air passing by.

didn’t know they have double deckers in ottawa. guess I gotta get out of Abitibi more often.
