Kinja'd!!!

I shall go look at it, tomorrow if I can in the day and the next day if not tomorrow, and make sure it is as he says it is, hopefully with a decent maintenance history. Will get pictures...of the underside especially. KBB says it’s worth 1k less than he’s asking in excellent condition. We’ll see.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Given he’s asking +$1k over KBB’s ‘excellent’ private party trade-in, I’m sure he’s gunning for getting what KBB says exactly he should get.

Looks like a well-kept piece of property behind and a well-stated ad. Of course, 21 days old and it may be gone.

Now, play nice! no sniping this out from under me. I need some reliable light duty truck to get the house ready to sell this summer, and then shoot for the 500k mile club.

If it had 50k less miles I would say that’s an ok price. If you can get him down to 8k that’s probably fair for everyone. Even though it IS a Tacoma, not everyone is going to be knocking on his door with that mileage. Combine that with just coming off the holiday season (which is the worst time to sell a used car due to people shopping/traveling/etc), he is probably willing to take $8k

9500 freaking dollars? For a 15 year old, 264k pickup truck?

Even though it’s a Toyota, I can’t imagine paying more than half that. Maybe I’m just woefully out of touch with the inflated value that people assign to these. *shrug*

There’s lots of cars that just won’t die. A 2002 4Runner won’t die either, but you can pick up one of those for 4k easily, with fewer miles.

depends on how the seller defines “well maintained”

The problem I have with used Toyota pickup pricing is... yes, they’re good trucks, better than the domestics in the same class.

But, a 2002 with 264k mi would be like $2k tops for a domestic. Or, $9500 would get you a much newer, much lower mileage domestic, and you’d probably get more use out of it.

Used Toyota pickups are, IMO, one of the biggest scams in cars.

That’s insane. Totally, utterly insane. Why are these things so expensive? You could have three early-00s F150s (2WD) for that price!

seems about the right price range for what others are asking over here on the western slope, but maybe a little higher and not by much. the good and bad of it is that you could drive it for 50k miles and then sell it for $7500.

For that asking price, I’d expect it to be as pristine as a 264k mile tacoma could possibly be, plus a 264k mile stack of receipts and paperwork to show how ‘well maintained’ it is. Some people may be under the impression that ‘Toyotas will run forever!’ and to them ‘proper maintenance’ consists of an oil change every 18k miles.

I’ve been trying to sell a car for 2 months. I got 1 call between Thanksgiving and New Years. Then suddenly last week I got 8 or 9. Anyway, the point is he’s probably disappointed in the lack of interested parties by this point. Could be great timing for you.

Nice little first gen there. Get all up underneath and look at the frame rails, specifically beside the cat on the passenger side, and then back between the cab and box. You are out of luck if it’s rusted.

If you’re not stuck on the ‘little truck’ part you can probably come across a 2005/6 second gen for not much more coin. A bit bigger inside, outside, better payload and towing, and the 4.0L.

the second gens command their own high prices too, and not much more coin in CO is definitely a few thousand more
