After Trumps claims the Germany wasn’t playing fair since Americans bought many German cars but Germans don’t buy many American cars the vice chancellor responded with
“the U.S. needs to build better cars.”
when asked about the possible tariff he responded by saying it would make
“the American auto industry worse, weaker and more expensive.”

Japan has treated us much worse than Germany by putting massive tariffs on our vehicles entering their country. I’m surprised this hasn’t been talked about yet.
In the end if you’re an asshole to the world the world will stop caring about you. There is a time and place to play tough and to play nice.

For the build better cars portion it was US branded cars being sold in the German market
Most of BMW’s SUVs and crossovers are built in the US
Idk if they do now, but they are planning on opening a plant there.
