Just did:

Well, it’s main purpose is dirt anyhow. The plan is to drive it to the race, swap tires, race, swap tires back and drive home.

Let’s hope it agrees with this plan...

There’s one that races in my region for RallyX, does pretty well actually.

And it can probably take some kind of lift kit (body lift, at least) to help with knobby tires.

Probably wouldn’t need a lift. I would wager you can put all terrains on it at stock height. I mean, I’m not saying you can put 33 inchers on there but a smaller A/T tire will fit.

I can fit all terrains on the Capri if I want to without body modification or lifting the suspension.

I’m going with some meaty winter tires to start, but they could be in my future as an extra set for really muddy race days.

The weight of the Crown Vic will probably play against it with stock tires size... At the very least you want larger tires to keep it afloat in the mud.

Can’t wait to see how that Capri handles RallyX !

Should do fine, there’s a few Mustang Fox body’s racing so it’s far from unprecedented lol. Just the first in the area with a Mercury badge on it. I already bought the right tires, I’m just dealing with some electrical gremlins and we should have another child being born in the next week or two so I doubt I’ll get to race it for a few more months.

Made some strides in the wiring last night at least. Previous owner was a big fan of fork wire connectors. I don’t believe in them unless 100% necessary. Example: when taking this section of wiring apart I gave some of the fork connectors a tug and they all slid out. Not a good combo for off road racing.

Oh, and 225/60R16 is the stock tire for a late 90's Crown Vic, that’s almost a 26.5" tall tire. I’m sure it would take an inch or two more tire. You can get all terrains in that size no problem or if you want the best grip - winter tires. We’re not talking about mud up to the bumpers here like in a mud bog for off road trucks, so the tire size shouldn’t be a problem at all.
