Supposedly going with a full review article of the car that nobody is interested in buying, so if you were wondering how it behaves when pushed at 6/10, here you go! I’ll probably throw the full review in here later.

Going downhill with this thing is the shit!

Seems like a fun car, proper case of slow(-ish) car fast, right?

What did you use as a chase car? It sounded sort of nice but I couldn’t really find out what it was.

Kinja'd!!!

:)

The car you hear the most is the Beat though... Not the SA22C... With aftermarket exhaust, the Beat was really loud. I can follow him in 3rd, without really having to press the accelerator so I didn’t rev the car much.

As for the Beat, it’s really good, but I wished it had just a LITTLE bit of extra torque, just to make the uphill fun too...

I didn’t think it was the SA22C, because I expected that to be way louder and revving much higher, now it makes sense though.

That’s a bit of a shame in such a mountainous country as Japan, well at least it is fun the other half of the time, haha. A lack of torque is the achilles heel of a lot of small cars sadly, more torque was exactly what I wished for when I took my Twingo to the Eifel.

Turbo keicars are much faster than this due to the much higher torque... Cappuccinos rock even uphill, but you can’t throw them as much into corners as the Beat...

The SA22C is straight piped actually, but rotaries are not that loud even like that.

Here on the same road...

You still have to sell your Mazda? :(

Love the Beat! Wouldn’t mind having one of my own someday!

Would love to make an offer on that Alto Works as well, but I have no place of my own or place to store it....or money for it at the moment :(

For now yes... Taking it slowly, but no change of plan concerning its sale as of right now.

haha, if you want a Beat, let me know, I can find you one easily for roughly 5k U$D, shipped to the nearest RO-ro port... Maybe a bit less if you’re lucky.

As for the Alto, the fuel pump has been ordered but it might take a couple of weeks to arrive so...

Had I be looking for one that would be very tempting. Alas, I already own 3 Peugeot 205s (and other cars) so I’m out.

I’m curious though. How tall are you, and how do you fit in these sporty Kei cars?

I’m equally curious how they compare to the faster of my 205s, ‘88 GTi 1.6 and ‘87 CTi with 2.0t swap. They’re even smaller and lighter than the 205s I imagine.

The Beat is special.... It’s VERY spacious. I’m 187cm and I fit without ANY problem. The owner is even taller than I am. The AZ-1 is a bit trickier and requires a smaller steering wheel, ideally a thinner seat too. Same for the Cappuccino... For me, either cars are daily drivable, even stock... These are just suggestions if you want actual comfort and ease of movement. If you’re not overly y’all, you’ll be good to go, but you’ll struggle to get in and out.

Cappuccinos are probably faster than 1.6Gti. I think they are at least.... Should be real close.

Edit: 0 to 100 are similar. I think the lighter Cappuccino would get the advantage over the 1.6 gti because lightness :)

The Beat doesn’t stand a chance because no torque and the AZ-1 might give it a run for its money ;)

This is awesome! What’s it really like, in a nutshell? They seem like a regular car but smaller, but I can only imagine that doesn’t tell the whole story. Things like rubbing knees with the guy next to you, sharing the roads with SUVs...

I adore the smallness of my MR2 and would love a Beat (old or new) or Cappuccino. But Capps in Australia, though very available, are crazy expensive. More than an NB MX-5/Miata, despite being older, slower, less practical, harder to find parts for...Madness

The Honda Beat is actually very spacious compared to the Cappuccino, you really do feel confortable. More spacious than a first gen Mr2 or than my SA22C actually. I’m 188cm tall and don’t even put the seat all the way back. That’s how confortable it is lol.

And size is not big a deal here, it’s actually fairly normal.... Pretty much no big SUV so :)

If you ever want one, just let me know, I can easily send a Cappu to Australia for 5 to 6000 USD, shipping included. Beat are even a “beat” cheaper (dad joke!)

That’s insane! It’s such a small car! Good on them.

You’re not American are you ;) Sorry, everyone here is American.

6k USD! That’s very lucrative. I think people are struggling to sell them here, but they’re listed for sale at about 2x that price. Better than drug dealing! More fun too.
