The G meter and RPM/Speeds are all goofy and I don’t know why. Works fine with the M5 but not in the 911, where the app gives a lot of complaints. I think it’s because the car is a 2001 and the OBD was still on standard 1 and the app expects OBDII. It’s a pretty conservative lap compared to the ones I had later in the day, but the sun got low and the camera kept focusing on the dirt on the windshield so the videos are all blurry.

The bad news is I’m now leaking oil. Not much but I need a new gasket somewhere. Skipped the last session as a result. Hey, it’s a 17 year old car with 130,000 miles on the clock. I don’t have anything in the way of a complaint.

Good stuff. I really need to get into tracking cars soon. I know it probably doesn’t cost that much for a track day - i just need to get off my duff and do it. With Laguna and Sonoma without shooting distance, I should stop making excuses.

Just got that app. Dunno why it seems slightly gimped on Android vs iPhone (iPhone can render the videos on the phone, Android requires me to put it on my computer first) but it seems fun. Super jealous, Laguna Seca in my Miata is basically my dream track day.

How about Mar 25th? It’s an easy thing to get started with, and I’ll happily guide you through it. Sign up as a beginner and get an instructor, and then it’s a matter of getting your car sorted out (which is easy) and then getting the concept of driver’s meetings and when they happen and what the rungroups are, how passing works; shit like that. I’m super new at this myself but happy to share what little I know. Always happy to have company.

I’m not sure how to give you my contact info without it being totally public, but my name is on the video and if you take first_last@icloud.com it’ll reach me.

Harry’s Lap Timer gives better details to help you figure out where/why you’re slow but it doesn’t work with my OBD port at all, which isn’t very fun.

Cool, thanks. I’ll shoot you an email this week. I have a sneaking suspicion that I’ll be in Singapore on the 25th of March (our company is moving into a new office there in April and I’m our head of design so I get pulled into those things) but I really want to start tracking. It’s on my todo list for 2017.

Track Addict HD. You can export the data and load it into an app to mix things together. I know this more in concept than from actually doing it but I tinkered with it for a few minutes and seemed pretty straight forward.
