Car Parking:
The smallest kerbside space successfully reversed into by a woman, was one of 19.36m equivalent to three standard parking spaces, by Mrs. Caroline Wizz (GB) driving an unmodified Vauxhall Nova Swing on 12th October 1993. She started the manoeuvre at 11:15am in Ropergate, Pontefract and successfully parked within three feet of the pavement, 8 hours 14 mins later. There was slight damage to the bumpers and wings of her own and the two adjoining cars, as well as shop frontage and two lampposts.

I always tell my girlfriend she needs to learn how to park lest she be used as an example in a sexist joke. That and because having me do all her parking isnt too effective when she goes somewhere without me.

Some time ago I was making fun of a friend of mine saying she couldn’t drive (but I didn’t really mean it). She promptly proved me right 5 minutes later by hitting a wall while parking and scratching the shit out of her one month old car’s bumper.

And yes, I laughed my ears off

I once impressed a woman, got her to go out with me, when I threw my arm over the passenger seat and whipped my 5M Camry wagon into a slightly too small space. Wonder if I still could?

PSA: preemptively characterizing objections to sexist bullshit as “SJW screeching” in an attempt to dismiss valid points only reinforces the sexist bullshit.

Really?

Even in the realm of misogynist jokes, it’s not a good one.

You just reminded me of this.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

Female tries to park her car, taking easily 30 mins altogether. One of us ran down to ask did she want help but she said no so then we decided to video half way in.

There is a distinction between making a calm, valid point and going completely overboard with an irrationally disproportionate reaction. I was making fun of those who do the latter. Those who any real women’s rights supporter wouldn’t want to be associated with.

To be fair, the worst I’ve ever seen was a guy trying to shoehorn an S class into a Yaris-sized space. Smacked a small truck backing up, took a few more tries, then gave up.

As for the above - wonder if it’s even true as it sounds rather implausible.

Took my driving test in Maryland - no road test, but parallel parking and 3-point turn required. I took the test in a ‘69 Chevy Impala. Think Orion class battleship. Somehow, 16-year-old me managed to shoehorn it in and pass on the first try.

You’ve missed the point, created a straw argument, and thrown in a “no true Scotsman” fallacy to boot. I need to make some sort of bingo card for these discussions.

I haven’t missed your point, I’ve just decided it’s not worth investing my attention in.

Congrats on having been in debate team.

It’s gotten more difficult since then. Also - U of MD where I got my undergrad degree? Anyone could get in when I went - now it’s one of the most difficult schools in the state to get into. My nieces and nephew have it harder than their mom and I did in those respects.

Ye’, the world has come along quite a way since we were kids, a lot for the good but also a lot for the bad.

I want some of the old days back.

But you decided it was worth your time, upon seeing a blatant example of sexism, to make a disparaging comment about people who would oppose sexism, who hadn’t even said anything yet. Literally saying nothing would’ve been preferable to perpetuating sexist shit. Congrats on showing yourself to be “that guy.” It’s really tiresome, and definitely doesn’t improve the Opposphere. If you don’t like being held accountable for what you decide to say, perhaps knock it off.

It confuses me deeply that someone could let themselves get so upset over pixels on a screen, put there by some far off stranger they’ll never meet. Please help me understand how someone could be this way.

You seem to be thinking that being tired of dealing with the same biased bullshit day in and day out, both in person and via “pixels on a screen,” is some sort of personal failing. It is a lot easier to pretend you’re OK with being the butt of the joke and repeatedly let others treat you like a doormat on the basis of things you have no control over rather than tell them to stop, but at this stage of my life I’d rather point out when something is not right than be popular for going along with it.

Regardless, this post is not a matter of personal offense. This was a very cut-and-dry violation of some pretty simple rules, and your comment was just another sloppy turd in the larger truckstop restroom that needed to be mopped up. Hope that clears it up.

Thing is, jokes simply don’t offend me. Go ahead. Make any disparaging remark you want at me. It’s not gonna affect my mood. I actually find your sloppy turd analogy funny, if untrue. At it’s root a vast part of all humor is at somebody’s expense. Who’s to say what groups should be labeled “untouchable”? If you follow the link OP provided, you’ll find jokes at the expense of men. Something tells me those’ll be perfectly fine in your mind.

You bet your ass if any of my female family and friends are discriminated against based on their gender, I’ll go in guns blazing to defend them. A comment on the internet aimed at no-one in particular, however, I hardly find worth the trouble of getting irritated over. It’s genuinely impossible to upset me with words, so forgive me for being unable to understand how such trivial things matter so much to some people.
