I stupidly forgot to take a “before” picture. I had never seen the interior of a tank in such bad condition. 1cm of gas that had transformed in some sort of hard slush. Holly shit that was bad.

So I cleaned it up for a good two hours and now it’s clean as fuck :)

Next step will be welding the tank back together and waiting for the new fuel pump to arrive.

How the defective pump look like. It’s not rust... It’s what stagnant gas look like after 5 or 6 years lol.

I can smell it from here! Bad Gas has a unique aroma.

Why did you cut the tank open?

The gas had become solid over the years... No choice but to cut it open and clean it up by hand. See this picture, but instead of a millimeter like on that picture, it was 5 or 6 time thicker.

Well, especially if someone on Oppo ends up buying it, I better make sure not to sell a lemon haha.

It doesn’t cost anything to clean it up a reweld it, and trust me, it would have died in a few kilometers without it lol

Then it will get a fuel line and injectors clean up.

Nice job. Is the RS-X the AWD version? Or was that the RS-R?

It’s the FWD version.... A LOT rarer as most people bought the 4wd RS-R at the time. The FWD has some advantages such as taking corners on 3 wheels haha. It’s also quite a bit lighter considering how light it is in the first place...
