You know what’s sad? I feel like I’ve got to explain or at least make excuses for all of these people. If I go with the marketing terms, I’m mid-late Gen X. Not that it means anything to me, mind. But I’m watching my parents’ generation act like a bunch of schoolyard bullies. And my parents’ generation is the one who is constantly fretting over “what kind of world are we leaving for our children” while being too clueless to realize they’re the ones shaping that world.
all I can say is that I’m minimizing my impact by not having kids and hoping I’ll be dead by 60. 65 at the latest.

As far as rationalizing or explaining Trump supporters I’ve just given up, I just literally cannot understand their thought process. Like, I do to an extent but they’re either so ignorant or apathetic that they either don’t grasp or don’t care about how dangerous the world is having such an unstable person like him as President.
The problem with those people is that they’re asking the “what kind of world” question and looking for their ideal answer, not a realistic one. Like yeah, from their perspective it’d be great if it was like in the 60's (when you could support a family with your job at the local manufacturing plant you got with your high school diploma and when gay people and minorities didn’t cause so much goshdarn trouble), but it’s just not possible to ever go back and Baby Boomers either can’t comprehend that or don’t want to and vote for snake oil salesman like Trump and the rest of the Republicans promising a return to how things were when they were kids, which stifles any kind of progress and makes implementing future solutions to our problems even more difficult.
Honestly I’m worried for our future too; as a soon-to-be engineering graduate, my job’s pretty much secure but with automation and the student loan bubble (the two gigantic problems no one in politics seems to be even tangently aware of) I don’t know what kind of financial health this country will be in and what kind of social progress (or regress) will have been made in that time. I wouldn’t want to bring kids into this world either with the way this country is apparently trending.

He said he would deport US citizens and thinks global warming is a hoax created by the Chinese, thinks the US should default on its debt, defends the interment of Japanese-Americans in WW2.
He thinks Obama is a Muslim and accused him of not being American and accused him of being an ISIS sympathizer, insulted war heros because they got captured, racially insulted a sitting Senator. He bragged about his dick size in a GOP debate and has suggested he might quit if he’s actually elected.
He consistently thinks women are only valuable for how they look, with at least a dozen high-profile misogynistic comments.
He’s called nuking the middle east a plausible option. He has a suspicious number of ties to Putin, and has a history of business deals with organized crime. He’s called mexicans rapists and criminals, been successfully sued multiple times for racist rental practices, and said he wants no black people, only Jews counting his money.
He semi-threatened the pope, mocked disabled people in front of a crowd of thousands, outright threatened violence towards the media and protesters, made sexual comments about his daughters MULTIPLE TIMES, praised Kim Jong Un and Putin and Saddam Hussein, and praised the Tianenmen Square massacre.
He’s flirted with white supremacy - retweeting them, reposting their images with anti-semitic symbols, playing coy about David Duke’s endorsement. He’s a verified lunatic conspiracy theorist - he thinks the Clintons murdered one of their aides, Obama is a sleeper agent and Ted Cruz’s dad helped kill JFK.
I have sources for every single sentence in that quote btw. It’s not necessarily what he’s said and done in the past, it’s that that pattern of behavior seems like it will continue into his Presidency, in which case the effects of all idiotic things he says and does in the future will be exponentially magnified because he’ll be literally the most powerful person in the world. At the end of the day any head of state is the representative of their people on a global stage and should represent the best qualities that humanity has to offer: experience, knowledge, tact, patience, pragmatism, integrity, etc., and Trump has none of that. Ignoring the bottom-feeders he’s appointed to his Administration (like the head of the EPA who two years prior had advocated its dissolution), not only is he the worst politician to ever be elected President, I’d argue he’s the worst person.
TL;DR: The dude is completely unfit in both temperament and qualifications to be President.

Honest question: did you read that entire source and not find a single thing wrong with it? You’re fine with that kind of person representing the US on a global stage? You’re fine with that kind of person deciding policy that could (and will) affect this country for decades? I posted my sources at the bottom of this page, this isn’t just shit people are making up to make Trump look bad, this is actual, confirmed things he’s done or been accused of and said going back decades and decades, what more evidence do you want?
“Running his mouth” is exactly the problem. International relations are built on microscopic subtleties and painstaking tact and take years and years to establish. Something like being the first through a doorway can cause international incidents, and the person involved in this kind of diplomacy needs to not only understand that kind of situation but be able to know exactly what to do and how to do it with the utmost skill and discretion.
Honestly if you don’t already see the danger of someone with the power that Trump will have on Friday coupled with how profoundly unfit he is to lead this country then I can’t explain it to you, you just don’t have the willingness or capacity to understand. Well-adjusted, normal, rational people don’t think the things he does, much less say them out loud, on a global stage, in front of millions of people, and well-adjusted, rational people should be absolutely appalled by how he acts and the position he’s in now. The world will not react kindly to Trump and every mistake, every stupid thing he says, will be felt by the American people one way or another.
PS- If you think anything Putin does in the next four years is because he’s scared of Trump and not because he’s somehow maneuvering to benefit Russia (even when it looks like he’s backing off) then you are in for some interesting times.

Well...his first wife accused him of rape and a dozen or so other women accused him of sexual assault. He also descriminated against blacks in housing back in the ‘70s. So other than the racist stuff he has said and the xenophobic laws he has promised to enact, those are the things he has actually been accused of doing doing.
