Some sort of widget used in the photo processing biz. Windows just sees it as a keyboard and outputs letters from all of the various buttons and dials. I think this will actually work quite well with Train Simulator 2017 if I can reprogram the commands to match the output from this thingy.

It might even be programmable. It shows up as a device from Pi Engineering (their slogan being ‘The No Slogan Company’). I’ve downloaded their Macroworks software, and it recognizes the device, but it doesn’t let me program it. The software works with another cool programmable macro keyboard thingy I got at the same time, just not this thingy. I’ll shoot them an email to see if they can tell me how to reconfigure it.

When you hit the “No-Print” button, does it not print out your screen? Seems like a useful feature to have in general.

I’ll have to sit down and map out what each key and roller is programmed to do; I’m sure there are some freeware apps to show this. I know that one of the rollers outputs a ‘j’ when you move it up and ‘k’ when you move it down, and the others are quite similar. As long as programs can accept changes to default keystrokes these rollers should be quite useful. I can see them used in TS2017 for throttle and the various brake modes, and in FSX for throttle and flaps.

Actually I’ve never been in the simulator but I did work in locomotive assembly for a little while doing electrical testing of the control cabs before final assembly (locomotives go together like giant legos).
