And for the billionth time, I told him NO. Not only will I never sell this thing, but have you seen what $2500 will get you these days for pickups? Answer: not even one-half of the gem this thing has been for me.
Tomorrow entails several runs to the dump. In exhange for free labor from my friend (my old couch weighs a few hundred pounds), we are hauling his old couch away as well. The slow march to regain control of my garage continues. Spring cleaning is early this year.

IMO there is none in reality because you’d have to be crazy to pay top dollar for this thing... Even I picked it up for a bargain, compared to what you see for these on CL now, in even worse condition.

I’ve been shopping cheap trucks to replace Crusty and screw that junk. I’ve honestly started considering just doing the bodywork and a fresh engine/trans. Over the last 2 years and 40,000 miles it’s been as loyal as a Labrador.

You just have to be open minded, nobody wanted this truck because it’s a stripped down contractor’s truck. Base engine (351W), auto trans, 2WD, plain white paint. Got some small dents and dings and it needed a new windshield when I got it, but damn if it hasn’t been crazy reliable.

The truck is the garage saying “Soon the crab doctor will love me again”. My dad was offered 5k for his 87 V-10(no its a v8 just the designation) silverado back in 05. He said “No it’s going to my son and good luck asking him to sell it when he has it.” The guy wanted to buy the truck for export to Venezuela and my dad was genuinely terrified of it going to latin america for the rest of its life.

Does it have any rust? Just curious, I know you’re from Washington (does it snow often and do they salt the roads?) but that’s a world away from the California Bay Area. In fact, I saw a mint third-gen Mazda B2000 today because we don’t even get rain here. I have such a skewed perspective; I suspect there are very few places in the world where a E80 Corolla would eat its head gaskets before having a single speck of rust. (Actually, I’m pretty sure my friend’s parents just traded in a pristine E80 for their new Forester—of course, no one here would buy a E80 of their own accord.)

Plenty of surface rust, but solid underneath and on the bed. Only two spots of bubbling through the paint. Not perfect but not bad for being 37 years old.

Inflation of old car prices is so real up here. WA has the craziest used car market I’ve ever seen...
If you really want a good used car for a great price, it’s all about SoCal. The hard part down there is finding anything with less than 200k miles, though, due to the insane long commutes.
On the other hand, I don’t know that I’d pay a premium for a WA car. They idle in traffic so much that the engines are often in frightening shape in spite of lower mileage.

Brother, he’s just going to have someone steal it for him.. you’ll wake up one morning to find it missing. Once you gather yourself you’ll go on the radio and proclaim a big reward for its return, knowing full well that whoever returns it, is the one who stole it, so they don’t deserve a reward.. when all hope is lost you will visit a fortune teller that tells you your truck is in the basement of the Alamo. This is what triggers a series of zany events where you meet new and interesting people.. you get to the Alamo, only to find detailed out there’s no basement, and to have people laughing at you for thinking there was... eventually, while watching TV, you see your bike, I mean truck, on the set if a Hollywood production. You know what you have to do.. you sneak on the lot in Milton Bearles entourage, make your way onto the set dressed as a nun.. then the big scene comes, the one where your truck is being donated to orphans.. you hop in and drive off the set in your truck.. you’re promptly apprehended.. but once you explain to the big movie executives what happened, and tell your story, they decide to let you keep your truck and make a movie about your big adventure!!
