1987 Suzuki Alto Works RS-X! You should read quite a bit more about it in the next upcomming days/weeks. I got to buy it for a good price and intend to flip it, by selling it directly to someone else in this world. I’m aiming at keeping the price real low, most likely between 4500 and 5000$, shipping to anywhere in Europe or America included. Try to beat that! :)

Now is time for a good overhaul, as the car has been sitting for a little while, then the first test drive in my local touge will be due! Excited to drive one of the only keicar that is actually good haha. Now it needs a new fuel pump, a new brake master cylinder and new tires. Once this is done, it will be time to test it out. It currently only has 90000km on the clock!

Only defects on the car are a fairly old exhaust line and a paint that is quite faded mostly on the roof and trunk (edit: oups, I meant to say bonnet). Other than that, the chassis is completely rust free and so is the body! We’ll see how the sale of that little thing goes, I’ll make sure to keep you updated on it :)

You have my attention! I’ll be watching closely.

Do you have a rough timeframe?

Well, there isn’t much to do on it really... We just need to find a new fuel pump and that would be pretty much it. We already have a replacement master cylinder. So, my guess would be... soon? Like very soon lol?

I go for a week in Vietnam at the end of the month, so when I come back I should put the car for sale.

Where do you live?

if it were a Dacia Sandero or Logan, you would’ve had my full and undivided attention.

Most here in Europe could ship you one. But why?

Europe will be no good to me as they’ll be left hand drive.

why you ask? i want a newer car but with manual windows. i don’t want electric windows.

Well, in the UK (part of Europe) they’re right hand drive. If I’m not mistaken Dacias are sold there too. Bonus is that used cars depreciate quite steeply in the UK. If you’re really serious I’m sure you could broker a deal with someone here.

Also, wrote a bit too fast, as I meant to say any port in Europe or America... Obviously if you live in the middle of Nebraska, you’d have to pick it up at the closest port that accept Ro-ro shipping :)

Iowa. But I don’t expect door to door service.

I would have to do some creative financing though. There’s something larger and more permanent I’m trying to buy right now.

What are the chances, at 6'-5", I’ll fit?

I’m 6'2 with long legs and fit, no problem at all... Then again if you are used to spacious modern comfort you might find it tight, I don’t know...

Hehe, no worries, it’s not for sale yet so :)

Don’t forget you’d have to pay for a broker agent in your port and taxes. But I’d probably send you a bill with a much lower price for customs so... :)

If you buy it, I want a ride!

I found a manual trans K5 Blazer near Rockford. I’m going to try to go look at it Sunday.

That’s an impressively low price. Looks like a Ford Festiva on ‘roids.

You have no idea of the massive margins importers make. My goal is to keep prices low while still making a bit of money. That way I can flip cars fast, in spite of having people having to deal with the burden of importing them themselves... And I’m not making a mere couple hundred bucks on this one. My margin is decent, but not insane lol.

And it’s not a fast car. Unless you’re on a tight road, then it’s a monster!!

$4500-$5000 US? That’s about $6500 CAD....not too bad for shipping included!

The company I looked into to find me a 126 in Poland quoted me $5K CAD including shipping to Halifax, but excluding import fees, taxes, and a little extra money to give it a tune up before I have it sent over.

I’ve actually scrimped and saved enough(around $6100) so far that I’ve put aside for it, but I’m trying to save up for a house with a garage so when I do find a full time job, I can move away from the family home into my own place (and have a place to put the 126, haha!)

Then again, Poland is a bit closer than Japan :P

This is the price for shipping with a container all in your own.... And even then, it’s expensive lol. On the other hand 5000 CAD is worth about 12 euros nowadays so... :)

Shipping a kei-car from Kobe costs me about 480$, port /broker fees and ocean freight charges included to Tacoma, WA and about 550$ to Baltimore. That’s via Ro-ro obviously.

I’d still love to import a some sort of Kei at some point, I’ll be keeping a close eye on this one! I know everybody says they suck, but I like small underpowered basic cars, so I guess I am odd :P

Though models like the Mira Avanzato, or the Alto Works are a bit more than basic! :P

Yes, they all suck, it’s true. All, but 4. The Autozam az-1, the Suzuki Cappuccino, the Honda Beat and the old Suzuki Alto Works RS-R and RS-X ;)

You can include the s660 in that list but not at the current price, which make it suck. Way too expensive for what it is. And no the Coppen does not make it on the list.

Otherwise, they’re garbage.

PS: don’t use extra grippy tires on the Alto RS-X, you will roll it over.

I saw a Honda N600 in Aspen once. I assumed they just powered it like the Flintstone car around town.

I drove a n360... A n600 must be lightning fast in comparison!

I must be broken :P

I quite like the Copen (though I wouldn’t have an issue fitting in it, so that probably helps). Wouldn’t mind a Suzuki Alto Lapin SS or a Suzuki Wagon R RR either!

I’d also love one of the classic 360cc Keis, but those seem to go for a lot more money in good shape and would be a lot harder to find parts for, even in Japan...

If I can make it happen we’ll have to have an Oppomeet at an Auto X event somewhere.

That’s a heck of a truck for $4000! Fix the rockers and I bet you’d turn a fair profit on it.

Nah, the Lapin SS and the Wagon RRR suck terribly too...

And I’m not including much older keis in this obviously... The Subaru 360 or the Honda N360 are awesome cars! I have a thing against the coppen as it would have been an awesome car had it been RWD.
