You know, I was having the exact same thought, but then I started thinking of the Swing Era and WWII. I think the association is just as strong, but you and I didn’t necessarily grow up listening to swing (though I have certainly played a ton of it). I think our aural associations with Vietnam are as strong as those of somebody who was alive during WWII.

Good point. I bet my grandfather would support that notion. He served in Japan in ‘44-45 and has pretty much only ever listened to big band stuff.

After reading 5-6 books on F-105 pilots in the war last year (one of which actually has a YouTube video-what are the odds?), I would really like to see a Ken Burns on this war.
