Went stealership shopping with my buddy and found these two. Same price range(30kish) and both with 40k miles. Pros cons of each? (Cannot post links because the X5 is not on the Porsche Dealers website and the Q5 is still in detailing and has not been added)

Details I know on each:

BMW - Local trade in(Knoxville), traded for a Macan, body is in great shape, the interior is near perfect

Audi - Local lease return, still has warranty for about a year, they just replaced the windshield due to a chip

Take that back I cant . The BMW is not on the Porsche Dealers website and the Audi Q5 is still in detailing because they just got it in.

I think he just meant a general opinion of the models

All things being equal I’d say X5 diesel based on nothing more than the info above. X5 is likely quicker and more fun to drive, will likely get better fuel economy and be a bit more reliable, has more space, and a better interior. It could also be better-equipped due to being one rung up the ladder from the Q5.

Is the Q5 the 3.0 or the 2.0?

Hmm... It might be the 3.0 because it’s the Premium Plus package

From my quick google search it looks like the Premium Plus package = the 3.0T, so I would go with the Q5.

My dad’s Q5 (3.2) has been pretty reliable considering that it is currently 3 years out of warranty and has only needed regular wear items. If the BMW is out of the warranty period I would run. My friends 2015 X5 (35i) is plagued by electrical issues but he might just have a lemon.

My neighbor, who is a car guy, but an X5 Diesel of the same generation. He always seems to be working on it. Seems like there’s always something broken, or about to break.
On the plus side I think the X5 looks way better than the Q5.
