Aren’t we, like, all more likely to die from leading causes of death?

This is almost always the case and it’s for pretty obvious reasons: Ambulance response times are longer and hospitals are farther away. It’s fun to joke about obesity and smoking and “hold my beer and watch this!” but medical locations are usually the driver. I once read a study summary that showed all the counties in the US where traffic accidents were the leading cause of early death...virtually all rural.

First one of mine failed in Tulsa, second one in Atlanta, based on that it’s not looking good.

Well, you do have to leave the house to do both of those things (assuming you attend the show as well). Pretty risky...

I’ve had it with people whining about ‘guns kill people,’ guns don’t kill people, death kills people. Ask a doctor, it’s a medical fact. You can’t die from a bullet. You can die from a cardiac arrest or organ failure or a major hemorrhage, small piece of metal ain’t the problem. Besides, I only use my machine-gun in the safety of my own home and car. I ain’t hurting nobody. And countries that don’t have guns ain’t American. You know, if more people had guns, we’d have less shootings in this country.

No, I get it. It’s an actual headline based on actual numbers; the wording just struck me as a bit ironic.

Nope, felt just fine. However both of mine failed shortly after starting my car, that’s probably just coincidental. The first time I had gone less than a mile and was accelerating then the car went into limp mode. The second time, I started it and my car was like shit’s broke, yo. First one went out right after I had put about 1000 miles on the car in a week, drove from Corpus to Tulsa then from Tulsa to Dallas and back. The second just randomly went out.

Just like a few (real) prescription drug ads that actually say “increased risk of death”. How do you increase upon 100%?

I get it - it’s a real headline based on real data - but almost 50% of all U.S. deaths in recent years are from heart disease or cancer. We are all more likely to die from the leading causes of death compared with the least common causes of death. I know that’s not the point, just saying the headline maybe could’ve been reworded.

Cancer can attack at any age, but heart disease is definitely a later in life issue - half of all recent U.S. deaths fall into these two groups.
