The Mazda RX-Vision is not an attractive car. At all.
Looks like someone left a giant red fudgsicle out in the sun a little too long.
It has a big gaping mouth that looks like it’s always in a state of maximum derp.
The beltline is comically tall and the greenhouse is way too short. Next to those tall doors, it just does not have good proportions. The wheels are way too big as well.
If it were a person, it would be this guy:
I have no clue what Mazda were thinking when they designed this, but they should look at Aston Martin to see what good GT car design is.

That the rotary is junk, I agree with you on that. Mazda does however make some lovely high output piston engines. Case in point the 2.0/2.3L MZR.
