Kinja'd!!!

FCA Announced today that they’re bringing the Dodge Demon to the New York Auto Show in April.

Could this be the ultra track ready, wide body Challenger ADR shown to dealers, and that we’ve seen driving around Michigan the last several months?

Per CEO of Dodge Tim Kuniskis, “Most cars attempt to be everything to everybody. Then there are the rare few that revel in a single objective, rendering them totally irresistible to a subculture,” said Tim Kuniskis, FCA’s head of passenger car brands. “The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is conceived, designed and engineered for a subculture of enthusiasts who know that a tenth is a car and a half second is your reputation.”.

They’ll be regularly releasing videos over the months leading up to New York. The first one is up on ifyouknowyouknow.com.

Nitpick: ADR not ARD ;).

I think it could be the ADR, or it could be a retuned Hellcat with even more power. Of course, missed opportunity - they could’ve given the Demon 666hp, but they obviously can’t go down.

The video clearly shows a challenger front end, then the other stuff on the site show the wide body flairs over the spinning fat tire, so yeah, the widebody challenger seems fitting. The only questions are how many wheels are driven and how much power? Since the front wheels are as wide as the rear, maybe Awd. They already have the hellcatted jeep gc in the pipeline, so the drivetrain is available. Doesn’t seem like too much of a stretch.

All of the rumors are saying RWD. Why put slicks on the front? I’ve asked the same question, as it doesn’t seem to be a Z/28 style track car.

According to most sources, FCA plans on pushing the current Challenger and Charger platforms to 2020...something absolutely unheard of since, the first generation Ford Escape?

The PT Loser was 10 years or so too. Same with the stratus/200...Basically whenever chrysler is low on funds they do this so I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise to me.

I’m totally pro fast fun cars, but do we really need another performance package Challenger?

Absolutely. It’s not like they’re going to make 5,000 a year. This will be much lower volume than that Hellcats (which really have no production limit).

I can support it. Maybe help spawn some more fun Camaro and Mustang variants

I think the Hellcat has that already.

Oh my, I forgot the PT didn’t actually get a second generation. They simply changed the look a little and peddled the same exact car.

Also, I didn’t know the current Charger is riding on a 12 year old platform. :O

Worse - the LX platform is the late 90s E-class. So that platform is about 20 years old by now.

Dear lord. No regular car platform should ever be old enough to vote...that’s usually reserved for third world cars and classics like the VW bus & Beetle.

They are slotting it above the hellcat, so that would mean more power or more handling with same power, awd would seem an appropriate upgrade to command a higher sticker price. Seems like a no-brainer, high horsepower and 4 driven wheels > high horsepower and 2 driven wheels.

Dude. The rear wheels are doing a burnout in a .gif they have on their site. It ain’t AWD.
