So your rich cousin feels so embarrassed for you always being late, because your turbo Miata is always breaking down, he’ll buy you a brand new car. Of course your limited to a compact or subcompact, because he doesn’t love you that much... YOU KNOW WHAT YOU DID! So what will it be?
I’d pick the 2016 Civic. I test drove one with the 2L engine and CVT and loved it. The CVT and brake hold feature would be nice for navigating stupid and insane Houston traffic and drivers. Plus it probably gets better gas mileage than my Integra. Plus I could throw some mad coilovers on it for MOAR LOW since it’d be relived of DD duties.
But what would you chose Oppo?
(Remember, this isn’t a “Do it all car.” You’ll get to keep all the cars you currently have.)
Also if you NEED a truck you can talk your cousin in to it.

The Mazda2 was kinda a joke, but they are an extremely popular platform for SCCA Spec B racing.
I think my final answer is Fiesta ST. I’m not a fan of the Mazda 3 for some unknown reason. I guess it just kind of looks like a dick to me. Not that that keeps me from liking the Viper/FD RX7/Jaguar E-type mind you. but yeah. Dick styling i suppose.

Looks like a dick. I do not associate Mazda 3s with obnoxious drivers in any way shape or form. I think its the character lines in the door and how they get further away from each other as you move towards the front of the car. The upper line continues into the hood profile making the hood look kind of bulgy.
Those lines bug me. If the car is facing left, those lines look like this > when they should look like this < because < is more aerodynamic than > when the car is facing left. Now obviously they’re just styling lines and have no bearing on actual aerodynamics, but they still just kind of look wrong to me.
I apologize for this long, rambling and only semi-coherent rant meant to justify an illogical dislike for a perfectly good automobile.

I’m afraid I can’t agree with that, I think the Civic has some of the worst looks in its class, one of the least interesting drivetrains, and it’s too big. Mostly the looks though, that chrome bar on the front is a deal breaker.
