Motor Trend has a review of a new prototype and it sounds like it has some strong dynamics. Toyota always had the resources to make a class leader. While it’s not the best looking car, it shows that the biggest car manufacturer is trying and Toyota usually succeeds in its goals.
I’m definitely interested in seeing how this new car competes.

Still not a fan of the ugly lower air dam on the front, but the rest of it looks decent. I still like the Optima and Fusion better, styling-wise, though they’re both aging a bit.

I’m still sorta on the fence about it. On one hand, it’s about time that Toyota make a sedan that drives better... on the other, I’d almost prefer this were some sort of new model - like keep the Camry bland, drop all pretense of sportiness for customers that want that and call this the Aurion or something. I feel like as much as we make fun of it, Toyota needs a boring Camry that comes in beige with factory-installed bumper dents.

I really don’t understand how, but they managed to make it look ugly, ridiculous, and boring at the same time. This car confuses me so much.

The looks are a bit wonky (but that seems to being Japanese cars of late)- surely it’ll be better but Mazda good I doubt. Hope they prove me wrong.

I’ll give you that, if they want to change the personality of the camry, perhaps a name change is needed.
