What the hell is going on here guys? :

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

CL Linkee

It checks ALL the boxes beautifully, with a true Manual! only 28K miles...but already on its 4th owner??? Why? (Assuming the lienholder is #4, you still have to explain the 3 before? This is a unicorn right? What am I missing here? Why are people passing on this one? Thoughts?

It’s a known fact that the M5's manual is so hard to drive it’s unbearable. The opposite of fun. So yea you test drive it, it seems like a blast. And then you sell it.

You make it sound like chirping the tires every time you let the clutch out in bumper to bumper traffic is a bad thing.

How is it hard exactly? The clutch is too heavy or something? I mean, it’s not like it’s a carbureted and badly tuned Lancia from the 60's or something... I can understand someone not used to that would find it “hard” to drive... But we’re talking modern BMW here...

“What am I missing here?”

1) at least 2 previous owners got sick of riding the clutch in Bay Area traffic.

2) Even though you can, you really shouldn’t hit the twisties on Old Calabasas Rd. Just a little too big.

3) their 2nd round of VC funding fell through.

4) what’s more important: a bad ass car, or a roof over your head that isn’t the back seat of a beater? Living in Blackhawk ain’t cheap.

5) got caught cheating and need cash to pay the lawyer — can’t let the other half take everything.

ETA: 6) just got fired from Chevron.

Yeah, I vaguely remember that the manual on this is just a parts bin job. It was never designed to have a manual so it’s just not very good.

BMW drivers can’t be bothered to use their turn signals and you expect them to shift their own gears?

I drove a DCT M5 and couldn’t help feel it would have been better with the 6MT, guess I’d have to drive the 6 MT to see if that’s true

Speaking only to point #2.... Hey now. She’s a bit heavy but that’s my wife you’re talking about.

Keep an eye out for a white E60 with a bunch of grille badges and an oppo sticker. You sound local.

I’d say “hey it’s those 3-series lease people” but the X5M more than makes your point. It’s existence makes your point.

Sigh.

The price is also ridiculous. This isn’t worth more than $50k, especially with 4 owners. I don’t think the 6 speed F10 M5s even go for more than the DCTs.

Yes I remember reading BMW AG more or less grudglinly slapped in a 6MT to placate vocal members of the USA market, pointedly making no special effort to engineer it into a unified synthesis of driving experience. Then, whether by design or otherwise, were able to ask about the lackluster result, “OK — happy now?”

So if a V10 M5 with 6MT isn’t a great driver’s car, well, on this one imma hafta be a Missourian

Altho as pointed out, 4 owners with that mileage argues that *something* about this car failed to inspire owner excitement and loyalty

Thanks bruh for thecinteresting, provocative post

Another possibility lol — car has a bad aura of some sort, like a gremlin, Christine, or the monkey’s paw or something...guys can’t wait to get it home and then they learn the “rest of the story”...

The E60 6MT was never a breeze to drive, but it was still more engaged than the SMG. I get that the car was built for DCT, but c’mon, just use some finesse.
