This is like a magician sharing their best tricks, it’s supposed to be a secret.

It’s hardly a secret if you have access to a VTEC engine to reverse-engineer.

I never realised the fun of variable valve timing until I got my Mini. My Corolla had it and I never noticed it. The Mini though, at 4000 rpm it wakes up and kicks you right in the back. It’s addicting.

Where does it connect to the driver to turn them into a douchebag?

I bought a licensed Honda steering wheel cover that actually feeds vape smoke into me as I drive.

My dad’s old 3.2 CL Type-S would turn into a completely different car after 5000 RPM. It’s very sudden, as if it’s a completely different engine.

Or just put a bigger cam and VTACK all the time.

It’d probably sell, too.

The Mini goes from a typical little hatchback engine to an angry little thing.

VANOS kicks in at about 3500 in the M3, engine not changes completely and it feels like all it wants to do is rev.

The Mini revs way to well for a SOHC engine.

You guys need to try the Celica GT-S/Matrix XRS/Corolla XRS/Lotus Elise (anything with a 2ZZ)

That engine has the most on/off variable valve timing system i’ve ever experienced. VTEC is awesome and technically superior with its smoother changeover, but the 2ZZ wins when it comes to making variable valve timing into an event.

Which model do you have? I put a 17% reduction pulley on mine and it made a huge difference from 4k up.

So Im a dummy and first gen doesnt have any vvt so I answered my own question.

Why doesn’t variable valve timing affect drivers of other brands of cars? It’s pretty common these days. My wife’s Mazda 3 and my FoST both have it...

Boost > VVT

Hmm thats not what I expected. Youre sure you have VVT?

... why not both, boost and dual AVCS?

so VTEC isn’t variable timing, but variable lift?
