Kinja'd!!!

Why do I want this. Is it bad that I want this? I also want a GTI. Which is worse, a VW or a used Chrysler?

But, $31k for a 6.4L 470hp/470lb-ft kind-of sleeper with low miles.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m looking for a $30k or less vehicle in the nearish future. This seems like an okay candidate. So my choices so far are this, a GTI, or a WRX. Maybe I don’t actually know what I want.

The LX cars seem to have a better reputation than other mopar cars. Low bar but still.

From my experience VW and Chryslers are equally bad, mostly electrics. Personally though, I have a soft spot for the 300 so I’d go with that. Buddy had one as a rental car after his car was totaled. It was like an old school American car with a nice interior. Loved the gauge cluster.

I’ll sell a 1998 Lexus GS300 to you for 1/8th of your budget.

Ummmmmmmmmmm. I’d probably go with the 300. But it’s a bit of a coin toss.

You could, but you’ll be speaking a painful soprano for a few weeks.

I for one think the 2nd gen 300 SRT8 is kind of a luxury performance bargain.

Not to dis the 300, it looks the business, but have you considered mileage and maintenance? The V8 is gonna drink some oil every change ( I wouldn’t be surprised by 9 qts) and will be pretty thirsty. Then again...very nice car!

Get the GTI and a APR Stage 1 tune for less than $30k. The 300 has big number but will drink like a fish and gas prices ain’t staying low forever. Oh and tires are cheaper on the VW I bet.

All the more reason to buy it now, buy the reasonable hatchback later.

If it has the factory SatNav rip it out now an avoid headache. Other than that, have at it.

Can’t be much worse than my lifted XJ Cherokee, fuel economy wise. But yes, I have considered it. Thanks for looking out, though!

True, but how long will tires really last on a 400lb-ft FWD (assuming Stage II, which is what I would go for) 225 section low weight vehicle?

Do it. Super nice cars to drive around in, passing power for days, comfortable for road trips, lots of storage room actually. Gas mileage shouldn’t be too terrible if you can keep your foot out of it. My SRT8 6.1L got 21-23 on a highway roadtrip. I usually average about 15-17 with mixed driving.

Plus, they look great, sound amazing and come on.....you only live once! Go have some fun!

(oil changes are 7 qts, so kinda pricey but still not terrible)

Buying decent tires would still come in for less than $1000 for all four. I don’t think you’d eat through them that fast with proper rotation.

you will not be disappointed with the 300 go for it. It is a great candidate unless you live in an area that gets a lot of snow. It is comfortable, the engine sounds soooooo good you will fall in love with this car. only down side is I think this still has the old 5 speed transmission no where near as good as the new 8spd they put in the chargers now.

the 300 is a big car if you are used to driving little cars like the GTI it is a totally different experience but if you do a lot of highway driving the 300 is incredible highway cruiser

I see a lot of comments on gas mileage you will probably average about 15-16 city driving with the 300 and it needs 91 octane minimum
