While getting newborn photos taken, my wife expressed concern for when we leave that we would have a hard time getting down the hill and not sliding into the street. The girl at the check-in desk said “if you have front wheel drive you’ll be fine”

our total snow accumulation was 16 inches which came in about a 12 hour period.

12 years ago I drove my mother downtown to run errands including a local dress/shoe shop (my sister was getting married in 5 months.) I drove because my little car had snow tires and it was ice/sleet/snowing in NJ that day. The woman working in the shop was surprised to see anyone darken her door and commented that we should be careful driving in these conditions as her husband had just called and he, “slid all the way down [a steep local hill] and he has four-wheel drive.”

I asked her if the extra 1100 pounds his vehicle carried may have contributed to overwhelming its contact patch or if he simply had bad tires, it went over her head as I’m sure many things do.
