Finally finished my Strat rebuild. Got all the new electronics wired in and put back together. Sounds pretty nice now.

Why is it backwards?

Interesting pickup switch knob. Don’t think I’ve seen one that style before.

No photo of the vintage wires? Were they cloth insulated?

Because my brain uses my hands backwards.

It’s a Telecaster switch knob. Like the way it looks compared to the standard Strat cone knob.

Yeah, I should have taken some ‘during’ pics, but I was trying to get it done while my son napped. This is a pic of the kit I used. My thumb and index finger tips hurt from pushing the sheathing back.

Have you thought about doing the jack plate and bridge in black to match the knobs? You could even mix and match hardware to do something like a chrome jack/chrome screws with a black jack plate, chrome screws and saddles on a black bridge... just to keep from going None More Black and to have something to offset the shiny frets and match the pickups...

What is this black magic?

I have and that may be on the future ideas list. I’m not sure if I’d do the whole bridge black. Maybe black saddles or something.

I read a little bit about the pickups you mentioned. Did you get those ones with the mini-plugs in them?
Didn’t I read that the wires plugged right into the pickups?

Yeah, their new Kwikplug system. It was actually quite nice because I could unplug the wires from the pup while I was routing/trimming/soldering. Should be quite handy if I want to swap different ones in later as well.
They just plug into the pickup with a little headphone-style plug.

I think the existing “bright fasteners and small round objects” motif might indicate black bridge with the blacking rubbed off the “spine”as if it were a fret, and chrome saddles and screws.
