Kinja'd!!!

I’ve seen a few of these on the roads, and I sat in one at NYIAS (to which I was slightly appalled by the interior trimmings and overall quality), but this is the first time I’ve actually been able to get a photo of one. It’s not that bad looking, to be honest.

Was the one you sat in preproduction or something because the ones I’ve been in at work have always blown me away with how premium they feel and how well they’re built. I’ve always thought that were more Cadillac than Buick in that regard.

It looks like an Opel Zafira, which it probably is underneath.

It’s not super interesting, but it’s unoffensive.

Like many people on here, I am prepared to give credit to automakers who dare to draw outside the box and come up with car designs that aren’t boring. However, if I actually had to pick between two sets of keys, I’d take the keys to the bland looking car over the ugly car in 90% of cases.

That’s a lot of money for a Chinese car that costs less to build than a (Korean) Spark. $45k? Really? It shouldn’t cost more than $7000.

Let’s see how many Chinese Buicks and Volvos get sold.

I have yet to see one - all of the PRC transplants in my area love German cars and Volvos (and I don’t see it selling to anyone else). It’s an interesting historical footnote, but I wouldn’t buy a new one on political bias alone.

China isn’t cheap to manufacture anymore. If anything, the savings is probably 2-3k vs manufacturing in the US on a per vehicle basis. Also, the SAIC-GM factories are just as pristine, automated and modern as any updated GM plant in the US or Europe.

We can’t keep them on the lot at work if that tells you anything.

XC90s are super popular in rich WASPy neighborhoods
