theres the 81. its an 81 Chevy sillverado on a 76 4x4(full time, all the time) k5 blazer frame, with a super short(cut down) step side bed. mild 350,turbo350, and np203 transfer case. 3.73 gears. stock height, 295 50 15 tires all the way around. handles like its on rails. has 3 inch exhaust, with 10 inch glasspacks it gets loud. 13mpg.

Kinja'd!!!

the 77. its an old mechanic service truck. has an auto crane on it. smallblock 350 muncie sm465, 4.56 gears, and boxes for days. doesnt have a straight panel. best truck for swapping engines in the driveway.......

Kinja'd!!!

the project 79. it has a v8 (getting a 305 *cough swap) has a manual 4 speed (sm465) 4 wheel drive(np205), short wheelbase, stepside, 3.42 gears. no straight panels here either. will get roller painted black.

picture of 305 *cough

the 71, old reliable. have had it since late 99, i show this one to you guys all the time, youre probably all tired of looking at it. it has a 350 smallblock, sm465 4 speed manual, 373 gears, its quick for an old truck, and LOUD. has headers, and 3 inch exhaust, that dump just before the axle. i get visited by the county regularly for noise complaints. i have had 5 engines in it. two transmissions, three clutches, and two sets of rear gears. has 3.73 now, had 3.07 until they ran dry. ran over a deer, tweaked the diff cover and killed them. truck was quicker with the 3.07s i have had no less than 5 parts trucks for it over the years, and still have 2 trucks worth stashed away in different parts of the yard. has also hit all manner of critter. manual steering, manual brakes, you can fix most anything on it with a hammer or a coat hanger. 8.50 mpg.

Kinja'd!!!

another parts truck. a 79,i almost own stock in them.

Kinja'd!!!

not shown (i dont picture much)

the 2 57 chevy truck project. 400, and th350 shortbed step side. bought from my uncle, as a total basket case. 2 trucks worth of parts.

the caprice. brown 1986 caprice brougham, flamed hood.. 305, 700r4, 4 door. its like driving a sofa. bought it from a friends neighbor, for $350 10 years ago. needed at the time an ignition module. drove it until it needed tires, and axle seals. still needs the seals. could fit a TON of stuff in the trunk. got REAL nice mileage.

gone but not forgotten.... the 72 suburban that i got with a friend. we both traded some junk we owned to a guy and went halves. dont buy cars with friends, it usually goes south. it was a 72 suburban, 4x4,350 v8, th350, with 8 lug 3/4 ton axles, 4.10 gears. former forestry truck. he wanted to “restore” it. he got as far as taking it apart. then a nephew of his put a dent in the dash during dis-assembly, and that was it, had to go. i managed to scab all the decent sheetmetal, glass, and the rear diff, and trans. was a SHAMEFUL waste of truck. still angered over it.

Kinja'd!!!

yeah, every so often trucks just SHOW UP. and i usually happen to have enough money to pick them up. that brown one was a 79, manual, inline6. i got it no driveline......$300 with paper.

Kinja'd!!!

has minor rust, just not enough to gripe about. i had gotten it for all the bits to put the others back together....... AND it has a straight frame for later projects.

They’re only original once. That machine would fetch in the $3k range here if it ran.

wow, thats real good money for one. i know i’ve cut up more than a FEW nicer ones with some of my scrapping friends.

its a matter of how long can a guy afford to sit on the truck waiting to put it together, and sold vs pull the pristine parts (driveline/fenders) haul the rest. metal has been so far down, not even worth hauling right now. but its a good time to stock up on parts. i have put together a few old trucks. takes about 3 or four rough ones to put together a NICE one. but it sure is fun........

I get it.

I need to network with Oppos more. Semi rust free parts go for a good buck here. Old Chevys and Fords are like gold.

those are the ones still in the yard, there have been more than a few that have gotten away. i have been slowly rounding them up, before they dry up altogether. they are on the second round circling the drain right now.

south texas, the land that rust ignored......

anything in particular that you are hunting?

I’m convinced squarebodys come in pairs. My friend has a ‘73 with the galvanized panels and an ‘87.
