I still wonder if the F-35B will have the same deck overheating problems for the Italians that we’ve had with it. I suppose it’s possible their carriers are small enough they’d never have enough takeoff/landings in a short period of time to cause issues. At the moment though I think Italy only has F-35As, deliveries on the Bs haven’t started yet.

Funny, the second part of the picture was and is how I feel about garrison. I’d go back to Afghanistan in a heartbeat to get away from people more concerned with policy and uniform regulations than getting the mission done.

Although my unit kind of had a problem with people trying to make Afghanistan like garrison. The only counseling I got in the Army was for walking and smoking in Afghanistan.

They tried that twice on us. Both at the brigade level. First was if you’re at the RLBs and not in ACUs than you need to be in AR 670-1 complaint PT uniform outside, regardless if you’re having a smoke or walking the twenty feet to the bathroom. Fuck that, I don’t think the Taliban cares if I’m in a tan t-shirt and flipflops with my PT shorts or a PT shirt and sneakers. Second time was after a brigade NCO meeting where an NCO from the ASB complained the rest of the CAB wasn’t wearing body armor to and from the RLBs to the ramp. So we all wore it...for about a day until our SGM said to take that shit off and leave it at the hangar.
