The Yugo price is too damn high. If it was really cheap in that condition ($500?), it might be worth the effort to swap in a decent drivetrain. Would be hilarious to commute in it (plus risking death with every trip).

Wait a second, you are telling me that a Samurai is selling for $15k in the US! Heck, I could buy one here in Chile, ship it over there and still earn money.

Here’s one with less miles and it’s only $3,450.

My grandmother had an ‘89 Cutlass Supreme International Coupe with 89,000kms. The thing was mint with a working digital dashboard and all. She traded it in to the GM Dealership in 2014 for $500 because she thought no one in the family would want it. I went to the dealer to see if it was still on the lot. They told me they had sold it for scrap...

I knew a guy who owned a Yugo. He often needed a ride.

It’s because people automatically assume that low mileage and rare= expensive.

Damn, that’s a shame. I’m surprised they didn’t send it off to auction, but they probably didn’t think that was worth doing.

Do I really want to trek 850 miles to Middle-Of-Nowhere Wisconsin in the dead of winter to go buy an overpriced old Rover?

Of course I do. And i’ll take a nice little side trip to Pennsylvania for the Yugo, while I’m at it.

By the time you get to the Yugo, it will likely already have fallen apart.

If I had $8500 I would literally run out and buy that Sterling right now, CP be damned. To be honest, I couldn’t think of a more interesting way to spend the money no matter how many times it breaks down on the way home. Besides, in 40 years or something it could be worth much more just like Edsels today...oh, wait...Hmmmm, that Cutlass Supreme looks pretty nice also...
