This is tempting, and seems like a good deal. However, if the problem really is simple to fix, I don’t imagine he’d be selling.... “The engine will cold start run and idle but once its shut off wont restart. Apparently common with the I Tech injection.”

I don’t know Isuzus at all so I can’t even guess really. It looks really clean though.

Very reliable. My cousin drove one from Toronto to the tip of South America. Apart from typical meintence stuff it was problem free. Considering he bought it for $1500.

My first vehicle was a ‘91 XS, but I can’t help much because it had the GM 2.8 V6 and an auto. Loved that thing. The engine was a turd, but it was great off-road and in the snow.

Most of the ones you see on the road these days have tons of km and old granolas driving them. They are a favourite in the koots.

Frame rust is a problem - I’ve seen at least three in the last six months for sale ‘parts only’ due to rust..

The ones I see here are bedlined, lifted, and custom-bumpered. There’s one 2 door that’s rusty as hell but still gets driven. This one is hands down the cleanest I’ve ever seen, and if it’s really a totally rust-free Arizona truck, I think I might get it...

Yes, I know these very very well. I have owned 3, four different times. (It’s a story I’ll tell sometime) I’ve never experienced the cold start/ won’t start thing in any of my troopers, but it did happen in my old Camry wagon. Turned out to be a leaky head gasket. When the engine warmed up it would spit a little bit of coolant in to the cylinder. When you shut it off it condenses preventing it from restarting. After a while it evaporates allowing the engine to start.

Troopers are known to blow head gaskets right and left. And burn valves. You’re supposed to adjust them every 15k or so. But most people don’t know this. Also the early 2.6 had a casting issue with the head resulting in cracking. The rest if the drivetrain is bulletproof. Theyre fantastic off road, mods are limited though. www.calmini.com has some good stuff though. Anything else just ask.

That’s very good to know, I don’t really want to get into a head gasket or head replacement unless they’re super cheap for some reason.

Thanks!

Yeah they’re pretty cheap. They put the 2.6 in the later amigo and I’m pretty sure they fit. It’s a pretty straightforward engine to work on. If you get it I would recommend replacing the vacuum lines. There’s probably 25 feet of them under that hood and if any of them crack the truck won’t idle.

They have Nissan and Suzuki stuff as well in case you get an old pathfinder.

4ze1 motors were alright.

Dumb technology, and also where to get parts if you are in US America?

I’m in Canada, I’m hoping I’ll be able to source parts through my work, but I’m not sure.

I’m seeing lots of parts online, so even if not through my work, parts are available

Some manufacturers (MB, Rolls, BMW) promise parts a half century from the delivery date. Others, including Isuzu, are iffy, but if they have a strong presence in another country (other than us idiots in US America) then trust them.
