Kinja'd!!!

I have the opportunity of getting my hands on a Suzuki Alto Works RS-X that I would like to flip (not the one pictured, I’d only take pictures next week). Pretty good condition, only 80.000km on the clock (50000 miles), nice original interior...etc etc.

I would like to sell it for maybe 6 or 7000$, shipping to the US included (I’ve asked for a quote to both NY and LA, just toget an idea of shipping costs... Obivously, I could ship it to Europe or Australia also...). I think it’s a reasonnable price for one no?

Anyway, if I were to do that, would any of you be interested in it?

Ah, damn it, they really should start building bigger garages and lowering car taxes in Europe. :( (On the other hand, then I’d probably own three or four cars that I’d barely drive, instead of just one)

Well, in France, a car with such a small engine would cost pretty much nothing to register... Unless you live in Holland, you’re pretty much good to go for damn cheap with something like that. Where do you live btw?

Belgium, so it’d be cheap as far as taxes go, especially as it’s an oldtimer (>25y), but you can add €70-100/month for a garage to put it in.

Yeah, garage would not be cheap for sure... But import taxes and registration would be ridiculously low for sure?

Aussi, cela veut-il dire que tu parles français? Or are you Flemish?

No clue about import taxes (probably quite high as it’s non-EU, I’m guessing 20-30%), but registration is about €40, and yearly tax €30. So about 10% of the MR2.

Flamand, mais je sais parler français, grâce au cours obligatoires aux écoles primaire et secondaire, et mon boulot bilingue.

Nice to learn there’s another french speaking Oppo around :)

In France, because the car is over 30 year old, the tax would be 10% + 10% of custom fees and include the cost of shipping the calculation. I think this is the same rule all over the EU. BUT, this is based on the declared price... So if I write on the shipping sheet that the car was sold for 500€ and shipping is 1000€, you’d only pay 20% of 1500€ for tax... Whcih is pretty cheap really :)

Ah, good to know! Probably won’t use that knowledge for a couple of years though; the money I save now can be used to buy a house with a bigger garage later on.

You could still look at the Netherlands as a potential export market: quite a lot of Keis running around (for Europe at least), and a decent number of JDM importers the last time I checked, though that was before their CO2 fascism. The Dutchies on here might know more.

Yeah, the car will probably go on eBay if no one here wants it... If I can sell it for 6k$, that would be pretty good I think. Considering one went up to 8111$ on BaT last year and another one with a shady seller went for 6100$, I think it’s not too bad of a price... We’ll see...

I’d call $6k NP, but with a car like this, it’ll probably be more about finding the right buyer than it is about the price. Good luck!
