It’s, like, a lot. I don’t even remember. Most of them don’t matter, and the ones that do I can’t buy back so forget about it. All I want now is to get rid of everything but the two projects and buy another Toyota pickup, that I never have to work on or worry about.

Oh, and this. I want this. I would trade every car I’ve ever owned for this particular 911 and I would keep it forever, because I’ve known it for 20 years and it’s like an old friend. It’s almost as old as I am, not perfect, has 225k miles, and it’s still my favorite. But you know what? I would also trade every car I’ve ever owned to keep this car in its owner’s caring hands and him in good health, which he’s not. Puts that in perspective. Most really honest old cars have good people attached to them, and they’re more important than the cars are.

Nicely said. I have so many car regrets and wishes I can’t count them all. But, I love the ones I have. That car reminds me of a certain Dutch 911. Maybe when he gets sick of it he’ll send it over here.

I think I know of a guy with a very similar 911....

I agree with you on the people behind the cars, if somebody takes care of a car for a long time the car becomes a piece of them, and they become a piece of the car.

It does look just like Jobjoris’ car, especially because it’s a gray-market Euro import with proper ride height and lights. It’s an SC, not a Carrera though.

This car is definitely a part of its owner as much as he is of it, it’d be sad if he had to let it go.

Thanks. Same here, there’s a lot of cars I wish I’d kept, never bought, would like to own, but dwelling on those does no good. I think I’d be waiting quite awhile for Joep to tire of that Carrera.

Ah I see, the only real difference is the engine capacity right? Since this is a late SC with the painted headlight bezels.

Are the US spec cars that much higher?

Engine capacity and injection are the main differences, yeah. There’s little details changed otherwise but in this spec you’d need them side by side to see.

Yeah, I know the feeling of wanting out of all your vehicles. I would trade the 928 and i am sure regrettably the Sprite to just have my GTO perfect to me.

That 911 though looks so great. Who cares about the mileage or if it isn’t perfect. No car will ever be prefect and the fact it has k=miles means someone actually cared about it enough to enjoy it and not own it as an investment.

If I had been able to buy my friends 911sc back in highschool, the odometer probably would have rolled over by now. I had bugged her for years (backstory: she is my mother’s age, but growing up sailing with her and my mom, we became friends) to get the car driving. It was a black 911sc that had be race prepped at one point. Her and her late husband used to race them. At their last race with her car something wasn’t feeling right after they were told someone tampered with the car and they garaged it. Years later he passed, she sold his car, and her’s stayed in the garage. Well after enough badgering she got it into a friends shop and made driveable. What they had found was their rival had ground off bolts on the rear that would have allowed the car to fall apart on the track. Which is fucking scary. But it was all fixed up, we drove around in it a couple times and she said she would sell it to me for $10,000 if I could come up with the money. Anytime, didn’t need to be then. So as I saved my pennies for a couple years plus mom was going to help out cause I needed a car anyway, but then she sold it to a friend that had heard she got it fixed and running. Sold her Surban too and bought a Prius. Yeah I know! I really wish I had been able to buy her car. Not for the wealth of what it would be worth now, but because it was her car and there was a story and it meant something to me. Maybe I should try to find it, but I know I could not afford it.

That is me and the car... I still have that jacket, but it is ruined and tattered.

Wow, what a story! That connection is like mine with the one 308, the offer to buy it and everything. Damn scary it was sabotaged, I’ve never heard of that actually happening. So glad she wasn’t hurt. Love the pic, looks like it could be the 70's if not for the background cars.

Yeah, I am very happy she was unhurt. I wish I could photos hop better I’d replace them with 70s cars. It’s a 78 sc. I wish I had it. Then you in the 308 and we’d have good cars to rival
