So....graduated in 2011 with my BEd. and have been subbing and working 3 other jobs until now. Had an interview a few weeks ago and managed to bag myself a Term teaching position for the rest of the school year that had an anticipated start date of Feb. 5th, 2017 for a Maternity Leave.
Was there for a single-day sub job for the teacher I will be taking over for yesterday and casually find out over Recess that my Term now starts next, i.e. THIS COMING WEDNESDAY.
Feeling very stressed right now and can’t focus as I have no idea where to start planning.....haven’t planned in earnest since my last Practicum in 2011, as most sub days start with a lesson plan to base things on provided by the teacher you are subbing for, so I am very out of practice. Wish me luck and send me calming FIAT 126s o_0

You got this, I always found practicums and things like this way harder than being a regular classroom teacher as its someone elses groundwork and expectations for the kids.
I taught in a public high school for 14 years before jumping ship to an independent school where this is my third year there. Feel message me but I’m sure I’m out of practice with the Eduspeak lingo they are asking you to use.

Well, as I didn’t know this was coming (the teacher I am taking over for also didn’t even know I was starting next week until yesterday), I still have my other 4 jobs to work, so I work all morning into the afternoon tomorrow. Monday is supposed to be a day where I will go in and job shadow, but we are expecting a 30cm snowstorm on Sunday so there is a chance if school would be cancelled, I wouldn’t get that experience...

Well, full-time NON-permanent as this is only until June due to it being a Term position. The experience looks better on my resume for a permanent position though!

It’s a pretty screwy mix....small semi-rural school of about 90 students in total, Grade Primary-9.
Music Primary-Grade 6, Grade 2/3/4 Resource for 6 kids, Grade 5 English/Art/Social Studies, and Grade 4 Art/Science/Health/Technology...

I quite like the Topolino as well....the engines aren’t big or powerful, but they are some very clever engineering, so small and watch-like! Non-synchro transmissions though, so I would suck at driving one :P

I’m preparing my lesson plan for Monday right now (well, I would be if I wasn’t typing this). It’s professional school, but some basic principles are still the same: know what you are teaching cold and show no fear. You’ll do great!

Gadamn! That’s a lot of preps! You may get a little overwhelmed ... or a lot overwhelmed... but just keep digging and you’ll get through it. You’ll be a lot better and more confident once you get through the gauntlet.
