After my unfortunate experience with a local rescue I continued the search for another doggo to rescue. Last Saturday I picked this guy up at the SPCA. He was turned in to animal control in Philly when his owners became homeless, don’t know much about his past but it seems as they were good to him. Knows a few basic commands, is house broken, well mannered and hasn’t shown any aggression issues at all. On the ride home he puked in the car then once again at home, he was super anxious and excited but calmed down pretty quickly. Picked him up at noon and it took him until late evening to eat anything. He has since gotten quite comfy and seems happy to be home.
He’s a Pittie mix, I think American Bulldog. I like his distinctive underbite/pouty lip. They aged him at 2, I think he’s not quite there yet.

Ah, he’s happy to be home. I have a pit mix too, adopted him around 1.5 years old. He’s been a best buddy of mine for 9 years now.

My sister has a beagle/pit mix. We love his big dumb face.
He’s got the big pit bull head and the slender beagle body so he looks like a bobblehead dog.

My Lab was a rescue. He was aged at 18 months (in March 2011) by the foster group, but based on how much bigger he got in the first year I had him he was probably a bit younger. I use January 1st as his birthday.

I think every young dog at a shelter may be aged at 2 years old. Both my parent’s little terrier and our lab-pit mix were 2 years old at the shelter. At the respective vet’s offices the next day, neither dog was 2 years old...

Nice doggo, he’s adorable. I assume the picture of him in the yard is your own? I know it’s horrible to think this way, but might I suggest that you lock your gates if you don’t already. There’s a lot of shitty people in this world who will let dogs out or come into a fenced yard, and I’d hate to see anything happen to him.

Congrats! I’m happy to see another Pit go to a good home. My ex maw and law had one that was a Pit/Boxer, but she was mine more than anyone elses. I moved and now have a Husky/Beagle mix. My mom also has a Rottweiler/Blue Heeler. All rescues!

That was the idea, he seems to like it here! I don’t know how anyone with a heart for dogs would consider anything but a rescue...but I also don’t have any allegiance to any breeds. If you like Pittie’s and Pittie mixed than you’re guaranteed to find one at a rescue.

We have a Brittany we got from a breeder (great temperament and we wanted a puppy at the time) and a little Lab/terrier mix we “rescued” from my brother’s house - a stray they took in but couldn’t keep (he kept hopping their fence). Lots of pups out there that need love, for sure. A coworker just took in a stray that had been hit by a car and then found out she was pregnant, and now they have four puppies to find homes for!
