I’ve owned some real turds too. And I agree with you, I’d probably have loads of fun trying to kill a Puma. It’s the perfect off road rig, because you wouldn’t give a damn what happens to it.

Fortunately today I’m not frozen to my soul. Yesterday sucked, though. Had to change a tire in near zero temperatures, then had to drive a van who’s heater failed to the shop. It took 45 minutes. Ugh.

All those chevettes were turds but the 4 door white one. It was slow but just a really good car, only one I had that would bury the (140 km/85 mph speedo) only one of the 4 I had that EVER ran properly. That said, I’ve DRIVEN Them to the wrecker, Driven them in traffic without a clutch, hot siezed one, pushed it home, poured in some oil and repaired it by pushing it and dumping the clutch. they redline at 5200 and go into valve float close to 8000 (had a tach, not kidding). tried to grenade that motor, drove it around at 7 grand in first gear, and still drove it to the guy who replaced it. Turd yes, But a glorious turd for the ages. Apart from my Hilux I cant think of a more indestructable car. I even walked away from a severe collision in the white one.
note the roof is pulled under the doors, I caught that b-post in the head.

Damn. Being smacked in the noggin with that wasn’t fun I bet. Sometimes the most boring/mundane cars end up being the best. My dad had a G-body Grand Prix like that. When he sold it to the next guy it had 330k on it, and had been broadsided at least twice. I still miss that car. The air in that damn thing could form icicles if you let it run long enough.

Drove a 4 door white chevette in high school. My speed would drop 10 mph when I put on the A/C. Drove it home one night on battery alone because the alternator died. Total crap can, but it got me where I needed to go with my precious cargo of friends and dates. So, it deserves credit for that.

Had the blue. Don’t remember it being particularly premium, though. The A/C was a blessing. Came with only an AM radio. Eventually convinced my parents to upgrade with a cheap aftermarket FM radio/cassette deck, an absolute necessity for a teenager.

premuim had the clock, triple cloth door panels, and dual domelight controls, so you could illuminate your groceries in the hatch with a lightswitch, then leave it on and walk away, killing your batt.

Hopefully she’ll be back on the roads soon. I just got my new motor mounts which hopefully will be the final pieces to putting it back together. But then I’ve been hopeful that each shipment of parts (six or so at this point) since May has been the last piece needed. Unfortunately that hasn’t been the case yet. I’ve completely redone the brakes, new transmission (the post office lady was less than impressed about having to deal with that, lol) some new lights, and a bunch of other small stuff. I’m just kinda losing motivation to actually finish it.
