And it is in my price range. No idea how to handle the logistics of getting it 100 miles home since the truck is in pieces (I don’t have the cold weather gear or experience to ride it home).

you must know someone who can ride it home. I helped a friend get a new Bonneville home which he bought sans riding experience. He then failed the MSF course and it sat a few years until he sold it

Most cars can tow a motorcycle. Rent a U-haul trailer and go for it.
OR
Do what I do and rent a van and steal some wood to use as ramps.

I’ve always liked the Shadows, is this a 750 or 1100? If it’s a 750 I’d recommend riding one before buying one. I’ve ridden a friends and found it very underwhelming in the power department, which was strange because his was a newer one, and a different friend who has an ‘83, with virtually the same engine had a surprising amount of power and torque for a 750 twin. Overall though great bikes, not interstate cruisers, but definitely great back road highway cruisers.

Sadly not, the only friend I have that would have the combination of experience, proper gear and madness to ride a strange bike in sub-freezing weather lives another 50 miles further past the bike.

I never thought of Uhaul, I think of their trailers as the small enclosed ones. Turns out my local one has motorcycle trailers for $15/day.
I may be getting a bike this weekend, which means I’ll have to clean enough truck parts out of the garage to fit it in there.

themanwithsauce is right... U-Haul is your friend. You could even rent the next-to-the smallest box truck they have, and it has a ramp built into it. I’ve hauled motorcycles with their trailers and trucks. Just depends on what you are comfortable doing.

Um, I think I’m less than an hour from where this bike is.
Where are you located? I’m in Worcester, MA. We could make something work I think. I have Sat/Sunday daytime free this weekend.
Never ridden anything with forward controls before but I’m sure I could get the hang of it.

I’m just outside Providence. This weekend looks to be snowy too, so anyone riding it home is probably out. Turns out a uhaul trailer is $15 bucks, so that is probably the simplest.
