It would be difficult to convert an LX470 to barn doors...

Oh dear god, why? What benefit could that possibly have over top hinges?

Is that typo or do you actually have a 2UZ-FE in your 2nd gen GX?

I said nothing about 2UZ-FE. At least I don’t think I did

You mentioned a GX470, which would have the 4.7L 2UZ-FE, and posted a picture of a GX460, which would have the 4.6L 1UR-FE

The picture is of a GX460 which only came with a 1UR-FE(4.6L V8). You said GX470 which has a 2UZ-FE(4.7L V8 even though I had a typo and put 1UZ instead of 2UZ)

Gotcha. Ive been aching for a GX470 for a second car. Would be a perfect candidate for expedition and medium off road duties. And they look amazing done up.

I am in a twilight zone with mine. It’s 2005 with 75k miles on it. It’s infinitely better than suburban I had with barn doors in that it’s more reliable. But it’s much smaller than suburban and I can’t fit anything into it.
I ended up getting a tow hitch installed and buying a trailer. Now I can fit everything .... if I bring a trailer.

Also those gull wing Windows are cool but pricey

Local shop does a ton of fab work, I was looking around for sliders and they said, ‘We work on Toyotas, take a look at the one out in the yard...’

There is a guy here in AZ on Mud that makes them locally. I don’t think his are too expensive.

yeah, thats the guy (landcruiserphil) but I think $1400 for a pair is considered pricey.

yep. that’s the guy. I must be mis-remembering the price. A lot of the stuff he does he does cheaper for local folks.

he’s a good guy (I bought his sway bar disconnects) but yeah, the gull wings are spendy. Neat, but spendy.
