At least it's a feature I usually turn off anyway

Kinja'd!!!

On the drive to work this morning the car decided it would turn of the traction control for me, how nice of it, as the system is really pretty useless once there is any measurable snow on the ground. Still, I think i’d rather be in control of that.

On a related note, Look at all those 5's I acquired on the way home! Also, apparently the traction system decided to mend itself during the day, how nice of it. And yes, I took this traveling 72 MPH, through my steering wheel with an airbag warning light on.

Lucky you, I had a wheel sensor go bad on an older TCS, and shutting it off didn’t help. Tried to limp it across town for service, but the brakes slamming on at 30 MPH didn’t make for safe travel. Ended up getting towed.

Nothing like a fail safe that slams on the brakes at random.

Always good when things break and it improves your cars performance.

It’s FWD, I now get MAAAD torque steer from the 3.8 V6.

Ehh, I can’t make that seem exciting.

Well that doesn’t help you get to oppositlock .

Stupid understeer. Opposite lock is reserved for when I get to drive the wife’s Impreza after it snows.

My pickup has a habit of doing this when a wheel gets packed with snow. I assume that the snow packed in the cogged thingamajig confuses the sensor doohickey.

If you think about it, this is just amazing... there is snow on the ground, so the average driver is most likely to need traction control in those conditions, and those are precisely the conditions that cause the traction control to go off line. Rube Goldberg couldn’t have done any better.

ABS failure also? Or just TCS?

If the ABS is out you should have a warning for that as well. I was curious since if both are out it’s highly likely it’s a wheel speed sensor which is, relatively, an easy fix.
