Yup.

Making huge amounts of money from selling fossil fuels means you can afford incentives!

My brother has just bought a new i3 (well it’s meant to be his wife’s but she seems to use the Renegade more which he doesn’t mind as he loves the i3 ). It is awesome, it’s some weird future looking car that somehow manages to drive just like a BMW AND makes you cackle like a lunatic when you plant your right foot, the acceleration up to 40\50mph is so much fun.

My partner has driven it and has decided that we are replacing the DS4 with one this year.

The dollar rose against the krona and they became too expensive or so I’m told.

Norway is basically a dream for people who love electric cars. How much does the i3 cost with the incentives over there?

Have you tried www.bmw.no?

Just checked, US$31,000 sounds reasonable for all the tech that the i3 has inside, in the US it starts at $42.400 and where I live in Chile at a whopping $55,000 and you have to order it because I don’t think they have sold any.

Back in 2014 when BMW started selling the i3 in Brazil the starting price was no less than $75.000. The i3 was the first fully electric car from a big brand for sale in the country, and therefore there wasn’t any incentives for buying a electric car. Since the country introduced some incentives, the price fell down to more “acceptable” $55.000. I think BMW brought 130 i3 to Brazil in 2014, and I already have seen two in my town, and another one in a dealership, they are kinda cute

Looks up bmw.ch, finds it’s Switzerland

Looks up bmw.ci, doesn’t exist

Strikes lucky at bmw.cl

No signs of prices and doesn’t show up on the configurador so I guess order only.

That’s weird it has it’s own page but no configurator, I guess they only order a single choice in trim and powertrain. And it’s a common practice of luxury brands to not show the price in the website, you have to ask in the dealer and they sell the cars in US dollars instead of pesos for some reason.

Brazil usually has higher prices in cars than Chile, our first electric car was the i-Miev in 2011 but it didn’t last for long in sale because it was $60,000, then we have the i3 and Hyundai is about to launch the Ioniq electric. People have also imported a couple of Leaf’s and a Model S. Sadly none of these cars get incentives and there doesn’t seem to be a plan any time soon.

South America isn’t a fan of gearheads. Tesla now have a official importer here in Brazil, but the price is as ludicrous as their acceleration, the 70D, which is the highest spec you can get here at the moment, cost no less than $245.000. BMW managed to sell at least 11 i8 here (the last number of sales is from November 2015), which is astonishing when you consider they cost $258.000. Same as Chile, the situation don’t appear to change anytime soon, which is a shame, since 70% of our electricity comes from hydroelectrics, meaning that those electric cars would actually be “clean”
