Kinja'd!!!

Good afternoon everyone!!! I have a quick question. I’ve never owned a car with light coloured fabric before...and it seems to attract oils and dirt at a rate that’s really depressing.

I want to scotchgard the interior like I did my 451, but first I want to make sure it’s totally clean (the driver’s door fabric will have to wait until I can get smart USA to replace it).

My driver’s seat appears to either have a water spot (from snow getting on my pants) or something else. What’s the best product to clean this stain? It’s very very light, but just enough to drive me nuts. The seat fabric is basically the same kind of fabric used for gym shorts. Like this forfour below!

Generally had pretty good luck with Duragloss 451, though mostly on vinyl, late ‘80s GM style polyester seat fabrics, and carpets.

I like the Woolite fabric cleaner with the built in brush.

I’ve been thinking about this lately. I need to clean oil and “other” types of stains off of a seat of a Jeep I have. The stains came with the Jeep so they are definitely set in.

I’ll link to one of Jolie’s articles: http://deadspin.com/help-how-do-i-clean-up-all-this-butter-that-exploded-i-476126665

Not because it necessarily helps you, but because I love the lead image:

Foaming cleaner with a brush is probably your best bet.

That’s two votes for foaming cleaner! They do have good reviews too. :)

The seats in my other smart clean up so easy with almost anything. Dish soap, window cleaner, even Goo Gone! But the orange seats in the new one? Oh boy do they not seem to like some cleaning methods.

Tuff Stuff is my favorite. The seats in my car will show water stains, and it gets it right out. I thought my seats were pretty clean but the cloth has turned blue before because it cleaned the dye that had rubbed off from my jeans.

I was thinking about getting some of that stuff. It’s never wronged me in the past. Though I’ve never used it on brighter fabrics!

That was alarmingly detailed. :O But wow, he actually got rid of one of those “impossible” stains you get from a lot of wear.

Yeah, he’s a little OCD, which is what you want in a detailer. Really liks his videos/tutorials though.

We used to have a Jeep liberty, those were the absolute worst to try and clean. Water from a cup sweating would stain those seats.

Personally I’ve used Valet Pro Enzyme Odour eater for about five years on fabric seats and carpets via a spray bottle.

Vacuum the area of loose debris, spray on VP EoE, agitate with a stiff nylon brush (lightly) and then vacuum up with a wet’dry vacuum with an extractor nozzle.

Mine doesn’t have all the black bits as it’s purely used to extract water and not spray anything.
